  1. Quick off topic, there's ammo there for a poll if we haven't done it before - How important are drugs on the scene? If everyone who normally does gear didn't turn up to the next popular nighter, there'd be the dj and a dozen dancers?
  2. Well the presenter knew his onions, could still dance (just about) and spin. Boy was he proud of that spin! Elaine bits were great and the clips from the film looked interesting. Just let down by Ronald Mac Donald, as we knew we would be..
  3. Thinking about it, it seems I don't see 'Across The Board' so much any more? I like a bit of everything. On a good night, it'll be a few modern tracks, some interesting new/rare, underplayed oldies and maybe a popcorn-esq obscurity or two? I'd go 3 hours in the car and pay 25 quid for me & Mrs Me for that kind of action.
  4. Shame to let a crowd of divs put you off deejaying to a proper live and switched on audience.

  6. Would have said 40 or 50 for the DC repress and about a score a piece for the others.
  7. Great track and it's not pop, it's Northern Soul.
  8. Procured, thanks.

  10. Wow sixteen years! I have been a member of this fine site for half that time, but in that time, I have met lots of good people, I have bought and sold plenty of records, I have read, sometimes in amazement some of the articles in the fantastic 'Look At Your Box' and 'All About The Soul' sections. All in all very enjoyable and worthwhile, which is the whole point of the site. Big thanks and hats off to Mike and everyone involved in Soul Source. Keep up the good work!

'Walk along on the lonely road, to the place where dreams unload, I know I will never stop, gonna walk until I drop' Jesse Davis 'It's just a phase a passing stage I tell myself we're going through' Garland Green 'Patience is a virtue and waiting can't hurt you, I know I'll make it somehow' Jesse Davis 'But I'm sticking with you baby, like a fuse to dynamite, I'll bust in a million pieces if you don't love me tonight' Roy Hamilton 'If you asked for a glass of water, I would run all the rivers dry, if you wanted someone else, I would gracefully step aside' Jerry Williams
  13. If anyone has a surplus copy in reasonable condition, for reasonable money, please let me know. Thanks, Ian.
  14. Probably easier to locate an original of Victor Kinght - Chinatown, than the pressing.
  15. Well FB squabbles are not really what this thread is about, it's a podcast review innit!
  16. Pretty much every track interesting to the ear and the whole podcast is laced with quality. Nice, well done.
  17. Just the right tempo for nighters: whistling giff ...
  18. Well I'll close it for now then if that's the general consensus. Thanks for all the contributions, most interesting.
  19. I still say that the emphasis is on up tempo at nighters at least and this thread should highlight the fact that it's okay to play more mid tempo, hey and beat ballads!
  20. Great tune! When I were courting our lass, she asked me about this record on a Pete S tape she had and really liked. It turned out to be the above. I boldly said that I had a copy and she could have it if she wanted. The next week I think it was, I saw one go for 90 quid. Fortunately, things have panned out in such a way, that it's just over there in the record cupboard. It may not be in my box, but yeah ... .
