  1. A decent article on Kool & the Gang in a New York magazine ... In it, they talk about their early days playing in a Greenwich Village club; Cafe Wha. The club was owned / run by (rocker) David Lee Roth's uncle. Back then, they were still known as the Jazz Birds and used to dress like hippies and go to a number of Manhattan area clubs .... https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/06/25/kool-and-the-gang-put-the-fun-in-at-cafe-wha

  8. As the clip in the 1st post of this thread stated ... Ronnie started his own record label (Gold Dust) ... AND ... he had big plans for it ... but the label only managed 2 x 45 releases and all the other acts he worked with were placed with other labels ... no idea why (one of the labels he licensed stuff to was Roulette and he can't have had many hopes that they'd treat him right) ... it seems Lee Horne was also in a NY studio cutting stuff for Ronnie's Gold Dust, but nothing seemed to escape the tape vaults .... wonder what happened to his label and it's big plans ... guess we'll never know ...
