The group remained active for a short period after they returned to the US in 1979 ... though their PR was still emphasising the Paris connection ... ... names to get tickets from (at the bottom of the poster) include group members Frank Abel, Arthur Young & Donny Donable ...

A few of the names that the group who cut AUTUMN OF TOMORROW's records were put out under .... see below ... At the time that the Right On 45 was released here, they were based out of Paris but coming across to the UK to promote their CRISPY & CO. releases ... BY the way, other names that their releases went out under (around the world) were Krispie And Company, Les Atlantes, Mighty Disco Machine, Seven Americans In Paris, Sweet Exorcist and Wall Of Steel. In addition to all those (& the ones in the pic below), their vocals were removed from a number of tracks they'd laid down in the mid to late 70's and the lead vocals of Chantel Curtis, Brenda Mitchell, Chantal Alexandre, Chantal Sitruk & Michele added. By the way, all those singers were actually the same person.

A good place to start ID'ing rare releases is maybe to list the 'tax scam' labels that only pressed up a few copies (or pressed up 500 / 1000 copies & then immediately junked the vast majority of them). Some obvious tax scam labels were Guinness (Frank Dell, Roger Hatcher), Emkay (Hypnotics, Otis Williams), Tiger Lily, Tomorrow, TSG, etc. ... BUT ... there must be quite a few more of them ...

I guess that when Stan Vincent signed to work with Buddah / Kama Sutra, they gave him the 'gift' of putting his earlier 45 out on Cobblestone (though only as a promo copy to go out to radio stns). Wonder if any radio stns programmed the Cobblestone 45 for actual airplay ?? The Cobblestone 45 must be RARE although it is the 2nd issue.

The Cobblestone 45 would have escaped some time around August 68 ... at that time, Stan Vincent was mainly working on tracks for Bang, Kama Sutra & Buddah Records .... BUT his work for those labels was all tagged as either for Progressive Media Inc (PMI) or for Music Dynamic Corp. not for G.S.G., the production company this release is badged up with ... JUST MAYBE, the CJ 45 came out earlier and the Cobblestone release followed on afterwards. The music piublishing on the CJ 45 is also different to the Cobblestone release (on which it's assigned to Kama Sutra Music), again this leads me to think that the CJ release is from a bit earlier. "She Must Have Heard" is still registered with BMI, via Kama Sutra Music.

Frank Abel was the writer of YOUR ATUMN OF TOMORROW, the leader of the Crow and the lead singer on the track ... ... he's on Facebook if anyone wants to 'friend him' and drop him a message about the record .... https://www.facebook.com/frank.abel.39

I'd put up scans of the CJ 45 ... but it seems I'm currently unable to post jpegs on here ... . . . . . . . it's working now ...
-
It seems to be the same track ... the mastermind behind the CJ 45 was Stan Vincent (the guy also behind the Crow 45 on Inner Ear) ... Stan worked out of New York and was a staff member at Buddah Records around 1968/69/70 (an in-house producer/arranger and songwriter). Joe Fields Cobblestone Records was distributed by Buddah at that time and was on the look-out for 45's to license ... guess that's where the link originated. There's guys on here who have met / talked with Stan, so maybe one of them knows more about this.

Watts Chelsea Bank (Heritage) was a May 71 release, the Red Fox 45 seems to date from earlier (69?) and that label was based out of Pittsburgh ... producers Gary Knight & Gene Allan seemed to have some Canadian connections as they had a 45 out on Roulette by Castle Creek (A Canadian rock band) around the same time that the Heritage 45 escaped ... As writers, (earlier on) Gary Knight had worked a lot with Bob Crewe AND Gene Allan had written songs with / for Bobby Vinton, then the Archies. He went on to do songs cut by the likes of Marian Love, Jay & Techniques, Donny Beaumont, Jimmy Jackson, Sarah Dash, Floaters, Don Downing, Lenny Williams, Marlena Shaw, Loleatta Holloway, etc (some of those songs written with Gary Knight). In 74, the two guys produced (& wrote) for J Kelly & Premiers (Roadshow / UK People).

The article is more about them remembering their days in Manhattan / Greenwich Village clubs in the mid to late 60's and not a full career rundown .. so it doesn't seem strange to me that the interviewer didn't touch on who were their managers back then (or later).

First person to use the venue for a similar show was Pete Stringfellow a few years earlier (Whit Monday 68) ...

.... STRANGE BUT TRUE .... It seems that the idea for CELEBRATE was originally hatched during a show @ the Cafe Wha .... ALSO ... ... the club's exterior is seen in a scene during the SHAFT movie (it's also seen in another movie). A more contemporary soul song performance @ the club ...
