  1. So if P&P added to arrive at final ebay fee, it means it will be cheaper to sell to someone in same country than to someone abroad. Probably lead more dealers to impose 'only sell to US based customers' / 'only sell to UK based customers' type conditions.

Shocking news ............. ... he recently had a new CD out ..... https://www.radiofacts.com/veteran-musician-george-duke-dies/
  6. The guy must be a GIANT prat .........
  7. Cleveland / Florida / Jamaica based Jerri Jones (a twist here as she was a woman who dressed as a man) .... ..... Jerry / Jerri was close friends with Kim Tolliver, so I wonder if Jerri also 'hooked up' with Billy Wells down in Florida ?
  8. I think you may be wrong there Bob. There's a Canadian web site that I recently visited (though I can't find it today) that had loads of info on the 60's Toronto music scene. Up on that was a photo of Jackie on stage and he's fully rigged out in womens clothes (with that 'Diana Ross type glamorous' look).
  9. Billy Wells obviously kept in touch with the folks back in Cleveland after he moved to Florida, probably via Kim Tolliver ...
  10. You're not trying to suggest Jackie dressed strangely are you ????????? ......... can't believe that at all & he looks normal here (surely) ........... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUYW2iwimBw I believe that Canadian TV broadcast a documentary show on him & his career around 3 years back -- 'I Got Mine: The Story Of Jackie Shane' ....... you are supposed to be able to view it here ...... ........... https://www.cbc.ca/player/RADIO+HOLDING+PEN/Inside+the+Music/ID/1573058286/?sort=MostPopular ...but it woun't play for me .......anyone here get to see it ?
  11. Greg Perry, a couple of years back ........... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UuUzvj14ZM
  12. Sounds good to me, has an really great old skool feel to it (due to the traditional instruments used on the backing). Wish you every success, Gwen is a great lady & so her family members are no doubt too (is Gwen still working with the Holland Bros BTW ?).
  13. These two have some other brothers, all now around 65 to 75 years old I believe. Their uncle was Robert Bateman (of early Motown fame). I think Greg is older than Jeff & he (Greg) started recording as a solo act in 1967. As far as I know, Jeff & Greg are still around.
  14. It is a good label design ... BUT ... I still prefer the Windy C one !!
  15. Saw SJQ live at the Old Trout in Windsor; great night. He had arrived @ Heathrow without hardly any money & didn't have a work permit so wasn't allowed to say he would be 'earning' while over here. So Immigration sent him back to the States. He had to get some cash & fly back. Arrived just in time for the show which went fine. After he performed, he was enjoying himself so much, he joined everyone on the dance floor for a good bop for about 15 minutes. Got some photos somewhere here -- GREAT DAYS.

  17. This local newspaper article deals with the place (& shows a photo of the building) ......... https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/lifestyle/nostalgia/coventry-nostalgia-remembering-coventrys-banba-3414344
  18. Didn't realise that Giant Records was one of theirs, though the info is printed on the 45's labels (always loved "Cool Down Your Temper"). I did THINK that the UK Carnival label (2 x Manhattans 45's) was connected though. Is that not the case ?
  19. An ad for a gig Choker did in 1981 in Calgary ......... It gets down to 14 below zero at that time of the year in Calgary, so I bet the band members weren't going outside for a smoke.
  20. Anybody got a scan of the Betty Everett King 45's label ??
  21. I know they ended up putting out loads of Irish things but in their early days it was mainly ska & soul tracks that they released. London based (Stamford Hill, North London) and run by a guy named Ben Isen. They seemed to do their US licensing via three strange outfits in Las Vegas, Florida and LA plus they had links with Swedish & Dutch organisations. BUT, how did they land the ska stuff, who did they license those tracks through ?
  22. Is the background / history of this UK record company documented anywhere ??
  23. Paul, it (the song) must have been featured in a (some?) feature film / TV ad / TV show down the years. Can you list any of them ?
  24. Their UK release (on Jay Boy in 75) ............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BNLTeKxHRU
  25. The original version of tuva side of the W&A 45 (1970) .......... ......'A George Jackson penned slab of southern soul' ..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjXZSrKFEIk ... AND ...... W&A's version ........... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU03matldM4
