  1. For Millionaires only. Sought After Soul. And Allnighter Vols 1 to 5. Detroit From The Vaults.
  2. That's sad news. RIP.
  3. Great record, reminds me of 'Berties' in Newquay, circa 82, another track big in that club with a great great bassline Donald Byrd, Dominoes. Bass just doesn't get better than this folks!
  4. Talking bout, non soul, modern bands then Nick o'Mally of Arctic Monkeys is mega talented. I love that band, & there's not many I like these days, creative, original, cool songwriter too. Live they are fabulous.
  5. Love the bass on Billy Hambric, She Said Goodbye. Real beat that. Edit: I know we've all heard Ann Sextons You've Been Gone a million times, but that bass never fails on me.
  6. Well to that question, I'd say, whats the point of bidding on any auction item & showing your hand until the business end is actually happening? If a Ming Dynasty vase was up for grabs @ Christies, then you wouldn't bid two days before the auction has really started…same principle applies here I'd say.
  7. I use a thir party software one for the Mac, never let's me down. Important to note, some times when actions ending in middle of the night cos they are in the US, then make sure sleep or power saver mode are not active, because obviously it could take a few seconds to wake up the computer & by then too late. On a side note, if it's decent software, then you should have a log that will give you the script history & you can see where & why your bid failed.
  8. Have been told this morning that he has had a major stroke. Does anyone know if is this true?
  9. It's a strange one Pete, as the Capitol was ten a penny back then. Always like the record, always stuck in my head, even if it is a Prog Rock with guitar rifs that Pink Floyd would have been proud of.
  10. Ahh, my mistake, I should follow the thread more closely. Although I do love that Melvin Davis song Apologies anyways.
  11. I like that term 'unhear it' Kris. To the tune of 'unbreak my heart' Here we go 2,3,4...'unhear that song',...
  12. OMG now that's how to murder a song! As for the best version, those Groovesville boys have it for me, with Melvin Davis version best of all time & very closely followed by JJ. No arguments, I'm right :-)
  13. Tulip Radio on Wednesday with the excellent Dean Anderson is a must for me every week.
  14. So what are we talking, Twisted Wheel? Edit; sorry just seen Ian D's post above, ignore.
  15. Spyder man! No contest, one I never tire of too. When it gets to the bridge & goes up an octave, so uplifting.
  16. Also, it's very arguable that if you are sitting on a big expensive collection, in just one generations time, you are not going to see any monetary value pay you back what you have invested even, as values plummet as the last of that 'real' generation exits this mortal coil. This is a very real possibility. I'm not saying the scene will die, of course not, but it will evolve & the ones that take up the slack are from a digital age don't forget, that shiny plastic doesn't have the same appeal. This will happen, 15 years max IMO. While there will always be a market, not unlike old stamps or something, but this market will be a fraction of the size. I know a very well known DJ we all know who agrees & thinking of getting rid of stuff just sat at home too, for these very reasons given his age & he has NEVER sold from his collection on the past. The clock is ticking all the time.
  17. Without being pedantic about this, I'm sure there was some, but of the 2000 in there every week, a very very small % would have worked down a pit, they were talking as if it was the other way round that's all. It's just good stereotype fodder for lazy journalists. Anyway other than that, and that Pete Waterman bloke 'northern Soul DJ, your avin a laugh' who lies every time his lips move, it's was very good otherwise.
  18. I enjoyed it. Thought Ian D's contribution was excellent. Generally a very good programme, especially for those on the outside looking in. Can't stand the 'grim up north' we all worked down t'pit' angle, not completely true is it? I don't know anyone that worked down a pit & I got the train to Wigan every weekend along with dozens & dozens of my mates & people from Warrington. Why do they always harp on about that angle, it's b@ll@cks & as stereotypical as the nostalgia scene. Moan over, but don't get me wrong, really good & optimistic view if the scene going forward. I was at the Ritz Dayers when all that Levine must go stuff was going on & it captured that time & the reasons well I thought. So overall, pretty good job.
  19. Got the Betamax primed for this. Like the clip, although I suspect Mr Levine exaggerating the take off drama for full effect, he's such a showbiz lovey isn't he? Gotta like him though, he's my guilty secret. I'll watch with a hangover tomorrow morn.
  20. Sorry to hijack the thread, got a question. Was Holly St James, TNL ever issued on ABC? I'm mean originally in the U.S.
  21. Will be watching, trouble is, we know it will be the predictable ones don't we? Don't want to moan, but No Love Starved Heart or any Eddie Holland in there, but hey, can't have everything & better than Coronation St at least.
  22. Pete S from Wolves said... (aged 50 odd with a spreading mid drift)....
  23. Same here...... 'man if I ever see you again, it's too soon!
  24. Please Operator springs to mind.
  25. Think the article is a decent effort. At least they didn't put your age Pete :-)
