  1. It's is a good question from the original poster as to why the Casino never suffered the same fate as The Wheel, when I think about it now.I was stopped & searched on a few occasions by plain clothes CID, usually early morning heading back up for the train, those CID were pretty serious about what they were doing. The local population were not all for it, I remember sitting on the wall opposite getting some fresh air early morning one time, when a very old lady slowly making her way past, turning to make a comment about 'blowing that place up' & calling it 'nothing but trouble' as she pointed, remember laughing to myself at the time being young, but I could see she was serious, I'll always remember that. I'm sure the local economy must have had benefits, although I have to agree with earlier posters, I never really contributed to it, usually straight off the train & up to Station Rd & in. And the local chemists didn't benefit that for sure, with Riker raids in the middle of the night a very regular occurrence. Maybe Wigan council deserve some kudos for being forward minded & helping a great youth culture to flourish or may be they were just apathetic in the 70's , who knows, may be brown envelopes were involved?
  2. Bootlegged in vinyl with a moulded over black label with silver lettering.
  3. So was right when I said I could be wrong, glad we got that sorted then. My brother was on about a Little Ann track last month & I insisted it was a young TT, he wasn't having it either, glad I didn't bet now :-) Re: Ike, Wholeheartedly agree.
  4. So it was her then, thought is was, good old Ike, he knew how to treat a lady.... I'll get me coat
  5. Not the first time I've been wrong that, but she did cut some tracks under 'little Ann', just not that little Ann then.
  6. Could be wrong but isn't Little Ann a certain Tina Turner?
  7. Can't see Central Power System as a NOR in the Manship book, but on his website it's £200 but expect a lot less in real life, i'm guessing it's a 'modern' tune then.
  8. Hi Brian. Sorry mate, I've already promised them to a mate of mine. Only the reissues & boots mind mostly junk to be honest, I always kept my treasures (one mans treasures is another mans junk I suppose) apart. Although I started buying again, just got my eye on a few this evening, fingers crossed the auto-bidder doesn't max out on my set prices, it's got me some bargains lately, lovely piece of software that. Cheers Aid.
  9. I'm pretty sure & happy they are all boots/re-issues, just didn't want to off load any originals. Also found a 7 Dwafts, but I know it's a boot cos I know I didn't hand out the kind of money it would have taken back in the day, I would certainly have known if I had done. Looks like they did a good job on the boot though, bet that could pass for an original. Some of the re-issues were shocking copies, I found an Ellingtons 'Destined to BECOME a loser' on Castle, but they called it 'Destined to BE a loser', couldn't even spell the name of the song right, shoddy work that! Aid.
  10. The irony of 'Tear stained face' is not lost on him I should add ;-(.
  11. Yeah Pete, that the very same one, Lewey from Runcorn, small & thin with black hair. His was big mates with a few of the dj's including Dickie Searling, the thing was, he always had a box full of real gems, real big sounds, so I didn't think twice. Live & learn eh! Cheers Aid, P.s, got to say some of my mates had a laugh over it in the following years, one lives in London now & I only see him at Christmas, & first thing he calls me every time is 'Don Varner', he he. time is a great healer.
  12. Okay Pete, It'll be going on my pile of re-issues to get rid of then. To be honest, I had an idea they were all re-issues cos they'e been in the loft for over thirty years & they were put of of the way in the old days because I didn't want them. Although, I found a Don Varner boot on Quinvy in that lot, I got ripped at the bar in Wigan & paid a weeks wage, not knowing that the black & white copy was a boot, i remember the smile on the guys face as he took my money (guy called Lewey or lewis), I was only a kid & had a lot to learn then. p.s, I think I meant to quote the Matrix numbers on the dead wax then, I believe the Delta number id's what year they were made if my memory serves, is that right? Anyway, thanks for the imput. Aid.
  13. Thanks rupert, just seen yr post. It has that delta number in the dead wax, I reckon it's a paper label moulded onto vinyl as I wouldn't be able to peel it with my nails but the label is printed paper (if all that makes any sense). Me thinks it's original, Yeahhh!! (although I could be wrong ;-).
  14. Cheers Smudge that's helpfull The Joe Matthews looks like a re-issue then as looks like vinyl with a moulded on label. I'm guessing the Terrible Tom is a re-issue as just checked an old manship guide & my copy has no b side, as sure sign of a re-issue I'd say??. That leaves The Coasters, now this looks interesting, think this could be an original Delta code reads 65C ('C' Looks like an' L') - 9291 - 1 I'm optimistic about this one. Anyone like to throw water on my optimism? Thanks guys.
  15. Hi Guys, Been in the loft as I'm now collecting again. Found plenty of old re-issues that I'm not interested in but among these are a few that I'm not sure about & just want to confirm they are not origs before I offload them for pennies. So here goes...... Joe Matthews Ain't Nothing You Can Do on Kool Kat KK-1001 in the dead wax KK1001-127261 Terrible Tom We Were Made For Each Other Maverick MA1001 in the dead wax MA1001 Coasters Crazy Baby ATCO in the dead was 65C-9291-1 Are there any dead give aways as to if they are originals or re-issues? Must admit, my feeling is they are re-issues because of the lot I found them with (my main collection was kept well away). Many thanks for any help in advance. Aid.
  16. Richard Searling used to play a covered up version at Wigan under the guise of Bob Seger Convention or something like that if my memory serves, but he was using all kinds of mad names to cover at that time!
  17. Thanks for your input Godzilla, I understand that auctions might not give me a full balanced view to the value of my 45's.. But to be honest, I'm just looking for an idea as to what my beautiful records might fetch & as to what i might realistically ask for them, (the ones I want to sell that is). I recon a quarter of Manship price as a guide is okay for re-sale., Just acquired Ray Pollard Drifter on UA, what a beaut of a tune, gonna play it until my stylus wears out,
  18. Investinsoul, those links look really useful & look like just what I need. Cheers mate. Aid
  19. Hi People, Few questions here so here here goes. I've recently started to collect again & have acquired some vinyl & have some more that I want to move on. I have questions of value about & what I could realistically expect to get, I have the Manship guide but am presuming these are not anywhere near what I would get in real life or on ebay. So here goes: Exotics, I'm gonna never stop loving you, Excello 2284 white demo. -M. Edwin Starr, Time Gordy7097 white demo-M. Jay Rhythm Wouldn't it be a pleasure Leo 884, M vinyl except nasty tear on label dnap. Magicians, Keep your hands off my baby Villa (Cameo Parkway) VG. Jock Mitchell Work with me annie Impact VG JJ, Barnes Chains of love Groovesville1066 VG Garnett Mimms, Prove it to me UA VG++. Tawney Vonne, I say please, Millage mint. Also an interesting record that I have that I don't think I'd sell & just want to keep for historic value is Miracles Bad Girl, Motown G1, now this is in very bad condition but does play, was wondering what it would fetch though, seeing as it was Gordy's first record on Motown. Okay folks, go easy on me as this is my first real posting, hope it's not in the wrong section. Many thanks in advance as to any info. Cheers Aid.
  20. Hi folks, newbie to the site here. This was on ebay last night. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190470521612&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_779wt_1141 Tommy Bush, I don't like it, signed with 'Remember the bottom of the pool' inscribed on it. Sometimes I wonder if a thing like that could actually de-value a precious gem like that, any thoughts?
