  1. Hey Guys/gals Just signed up for a new Virgin Media TiVo box & noticed that Virgin have teamed up with Spotify & will bundle the service. So was wondering if anyone knows what kind off Northern selection is available on Spotify? Cheers ears. Aid.
  2. George Hughley's Thats Why I Cry on Buddah is a tune & a half, pure class IMO.
  3. Not sure of the definition of Xover, but as I'm a lot older now & my tastes have changed with the years & Riker fueled dance is not on the agenda but just love the soul, then as someone that has been off the scene for longer than the Casino & have re-discovered my lost love of soul & collecting in recent years, then here's my five of today, hope they qualify, maybe they don't? Maybe mainstream, don't know, anyway here goes: Paul Smith, I'll Run. Fabulous NuTones, Make a Change, Johnny Summers, I'm Still Yours. Four Voices, Your Love is Getting Stronger, New Wanderers, Ain't gonna do you no wrong.
  4. Here it is https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/auction/this-week/
  5. On the same subject, there is a Nolan Chance on Bunky going on Manships site this week, Bloody heck. Wonder what it'll fetch? Bet you could pay off Greece's debt with it.
  6. Hi Guys/gals, Always been intrigued by 'ghost' records & super rare discs & the stories & urban myths behind them. So thought I'd start my first thread here, so go easy on me, hope it's in the right place & hope the subject hasn't been done to death already. I'll kick off with a record by MAJOR LANCE, THINK NOTHING ABOUT IT on Okeh 7200, does this record actually exist in this format? Has anyone ever seen it & does anyone know the story why this record actually never got cut? (or maybe it did). Feel free to chip in with your own 'northern myth'. Cheers ears Aid.
  7. Just check my bootleg guide & I was wrong on that point, (was getting mixed up with 'Gene' Chandler's 'There was a time...doh, it wasn't bootlegged that early, more like the 70's like you say. Cheers Aid
  8. I can't change was bootlegged as early as 1968 on Ashford 1001. Aid.
  9. Another Blue eyed Aussie, Robbie Porter, That's the way love goes.
  10. Going back to Helen Shapiro, 14 year old, Jewish, Londoner, hardly fitting the Detroit mold! What a tune though.
  11. Apologies,I see an earlier poster already posted that one. How about Lynn Randell? Being an Aussie?
  12. Didn't Tony Blackburn have a version of Doris Troys I'll Do Anything? Russ guilty of that Casino atrocity no doubt!
  13. Hi Lorraine, Great to see you interacting on this sight. Your voice introduced me to a lifelong love of soul. For me, it's 'I Can't Change' that defines you a legend, just my opinion. Great to have you here & with such great humour too. End of creeping. As we say in the northwest u.k. .....'ta chuck'. Regards, Aid.

Hey Sosten.... Bit of a generalisation that dont you think? i like to read & join in topics about northern cos I love it, but i promise you, i'll live with you on most music genres, bar heavy rock, but dont want to talk about those on here. Does that make me blinkered? I can talk about Myles Davis or Lenoard Cohen at work, but isnt this place to meet like minded people and learn something about what you love? Or am I missing something?

Hi Bri, Yeah, it was booted, this is an original, a few small differences in 'typestyle', i.e. serifs on the number one (it shouldn't have any). It was the first thing I checked before buying, mine is the orig. Would be easy to pick up the boot buy mistake though. Cheers Aid.
  18. Change of subject, something new i learned today, Dynamo of Larry Clinton fame, was out of the Artic label! Now I know, its obvious looking at the design.
  19. This counterfeit was made at the same time as Barbera Lewis Someday were gonna love again & same applies to that.
  20. For OP: bootlegged as WD (as Pete said) missing AT in deadwax. Also counterfeited on red issue Dial, messy AT (Atlantic Distribution) in deadwax 2 lines on top of T on fake.
  21. Just to give this thread some balance, he did give regular spins to Pat Powdrill & Lyn Randell so it wasn't all bad.
  22. Ha ha, just remembered the biggest sin of all.........The Wigan Joker, The Royal Vibes, he actually used to play this atrocity.
  23. Another one that killed me 'Theme from Coloured Man' Teddy Vann, absolute torture.
  24. Yeah, I hated it, but I had this mate Chris Hurley who was a fabulous dancer & he loved it, think it went with 'Riker' if you know what I mean, but it had absolutely nothing to do with soul music.
  25. Just thought of another criminal (in my opinion)/ but very popular track that Russ used to play, Salt & Pepper Lou Edwards, talk about cheesy pop, but it was massive, think I was missing something....
