  1. Bit strong Giant, good & rare don't always go hand in hand, just cos I'm not in your league, we've not all got spare Larry Clintons. Suppose I was talking shit about Lowton then??. December 9th first one.
  2. Got to say, I don't even like the track actually, but always under the impression that it was like hens teeth.
  3. Never uploaded a scan before but just had a go. See if this works.
  4. Hi Chalky, The flip is called 'what is my next heartache' 101B
  5. Funny that, I've got a Tawney Vonne I say please, just dug it out after I seen yours, but mine, is a yellow Millage 101A, the label type looks hand written, Vonne is credited where Kazia is on your pic, just wondering about which is the rarer of the two. Cheers Aid
  6. See here in is my problem with a lot of instrumentals, yeah soulful ones, examples off the top of my head, say like, groovin with mr blow or Frankie Crocker or ever Sounds of east Harlem, where you can feel that beatin rhythm. But sometimes it seems to me, and the certainly includes the 'end days' of Wigan, but you might as well just throw on some up beat t.v. theme tunes. Not having a go at this list, but 'Paint it black' or the Esperanto one, or ever the Phil Coulter one, I remember these getting played & I but i struggled to find any soul in them whatsoever, I think this period has scarred me I just think they sound like 'cop show' themes. I even liked a few at the time myself, Harold Betts cover or Billy Arnell, but doubt I would now. I suppose my point is, there's a very fine line, between soulful instrumentals and music that is not soulful (imo), maybe good, but not soulful. Cheers ears Aid.
  7. Tearra sold for 8 ton, the Jackie Day didn't sell.
  8. Jesus, there's a few on tonight. Tearra Just Loving you on Midtown that's gotta be worth a kings ransom these days.
  9. looks in good nick too, sellers got a reserve on.
  10. Jackie Day NB on Phelectron on evil bay! About as common as Hailey's comet this. What's this gonna make?
  11. To my ears, the archetypal Northern tune these days, is something like Melvin Davis I'm the one who loves you but my tastes are ever changing. But I wouldn't quote this to somebody new to Northern, I"d quote something probably some like Ann Sexton' You've been gone to long or maybe Patti Austin 'I've given all my love' or anything Lorraine Chandler or Eddie Parker, as these were the song's that made me love it originally & I'm sure I'd 'spread the love' with those.
  12. A few cd's I like at the moment. Ginger Taylor's Northern Soul Banquet. (Bull's Bygones OMG what a tune). Northern Soul The Collectors Choice. Oh and another one called 'Nitty Gritty' but forgotten who's compiled that one. Can't say as I use a cd player anymore though, I rip them and play through iPad/system, reckon the cd player is about dead and those shiny discs days are certainly numbered, even Linn Audio don't manufacture cd players anymore, the irony is not lost on me, as they produce the best turntables on gods planet & always will. Goldmine have a series called 'Across the board' which is more modern & quite good. Cheers ears Aid.
  13. Never really been the greatest fan of instrumentals but one I currently like is the Betty Boo instrumental of Say It isn't So by The Popcorn Orchestra (sounds like a cover up if ever there was one) . I'm my day I suppose Derek & Ray before it's u.k RCA release was a monster.
  14. What do you reckon the Mel Brit is worth today Ted?
  15. Ahh right, that's explains that.
  16. Giving you the love on the flip on SoulCraft thought that was orig??
  17. Hi folks, Just wondering how the vinyl market is actually effected by current economical recession. I mean, are we currently in a trough? Have prices bottomed out? If effected at all maybe it's a good time to be 'hovering up' like the early 80's or maybe it's an ever-changing market regardless anyway? As this is not an exact science I suppose we can only go by privious prices fetched. I see a beaten up Mel Brit on Ebay at the minute that looks like it'll fetch £300+, I suppose this being an iconic & classic tune might be a good benchmark. I've just watched a mint James Dockery My Faith in You go for about £20 surely worth a bit more in years gone by. And then in-demand sounds will go against the flow I suppose & the internet is a game changer too. Just wondering how the market is effected really. Any thoughts?
  18. Don't know if this thread is dead yet. But a few forgotten from wigan that I don't hear today, not saying they don't get spins just that I don't hear them these days. Chapter V. You can't mean it. Garry Haines. Keep on Going. Can't remember how big they were only that I loved them, don't think they were overly spun at the Casino.
  19. Well the picture speaks louder than the words I'd say. I've on the whole been pleased with most of my recent purchases, re;condition as described, bar one Variations on Okeh that resembled a plant pot when it arrived & went straight in the bin.
  20. just come across this as I was perusing t'internet. https://cgi.ebay.com/VOWS-DETROIT-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-V-I-P-25016-HEAR-BOTH-/220826870089?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item336a4ea149#ht_3726wt_1228 Nice tune, but if this is a vg+ then my d@*k's a chocolate biscuit! Takin liberties with a less than conservative grading, don't you think?
  21. Yeah, that's probably true Boba, out of my league those Boba, i know a few serious collectors in Warrington that have probably owned it in their day, I'm just feeling my way back into collecting again after a long absence, I'm on three figures not four when it comes to buying (at the moment at least).
  22. Didn't sell, lovely tune, I think I'd be looking for a Gene Toones or maybe a Cavaliers if were going for Shrine, if I had that kind of disposable to spend on those shiny lilttle black 45's that is, which I don't.
  23. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290595950939+#ht_500wt_1219 Looks mint, not seen many of these. Way out of my league anyway.
  24. Just out of interest theres a clean one I'm watching on ebay right now, don't know with the protocol on soul-source if it's okay to post the link I will, or message me or I'll put it up (wouldn't mention it but it's out of my budget anyway). Cheers ears Aid.
