  1. Wow, find & a half, you have got yourself a real nugget there if that's orig my friend. Aid
  2. Interesting that Bob...... speaking as a colour retoucher/graphic designer with access to high end repro tools......very interesting indeed Aid
  3. What a cracking tune Bob, just love that Blendels, rather you than me in that condition mate, suppose the label worse condition than vinyl then, rare as hens, I'll just make do with my ipad version til I win the lotto. Aid.
  4. Did anyone see that Blendels Did You Mean on Dontee, on ebay tonight? It was trashed & still made $500, can't believe the prices some trashed records are getting still. Had me beedy eye on it, but no chance in that condition, just mad. Love the record though. Aid.
  5. love this record, but come on.....it's trashed. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120862976313+#ht_500wt_1215 Aid.
  6. One seller listing the gold label ones on ebay, either must have loads of copies or he never sells, cos the same guy has been listing them for years. Wouldn't mind a green label, lovely record. Aid.
  7. Hey Bob, just checked over the record, there is absolutely no coloration of the vinyl, all black as should be, must just be reflections in the light to give that effect, but upon close inspection, while playing, there was the faintest 'swoosh' which I'd never noticed before & I had to play it over the pitting bits a few time to notice, but I do think it's there. Anyway, what do you think? Manufacturing fault maybe? cos it doesn't look like it's been prodded with anything & otherwise in great condition. Aid.
  8. Hi Bob, Heres a pic of that pitted Paul Smith, hope you can see it, really hard to highlight it on a digi camera, took me loads of goes to even pick it up, now I know why some pictures of vinyl looks more glossy than they actually are, it's the flash, an easy way to get fooled on record condition, anyway here the link. Aid.
  9. Will post a detailed picture up at weekend Bob. Aid
  10. Yeah, kind of pitting, Tiny bits, will take a photo & upload, am working away till Friday, so post up at weekend. Is vinyl subject to any heat after cutting then or would that just been in storage? Don't really know the process. Aid
  11. Slight change of subject Bob, but I've got a Paul Smith on jacklyn, not cracked, but looks like a group of some kind of tiny bubbles on surface of vinyl, looks like could have been in the manufacting process. Record otherwise super clean & doesn't effect play. Have you come across this before? Always wonder what it is, if it's just mine or this could be common? Aid.
  12. Absolute shot in the dark. Elijah Rockin With Soul, Hank Jacobs on Call Me? Aid
  13. I listen every Saturday morning, superb show, Brian Mathews is the fount of all knowledge. Lou Ragland, Gospel Classics & Ike & Tina's lovin you too long last Saturday alone. He is a bottomless well of interesting snippets. Aid.
  14. A few female vocals that I always find myself homing in on the lyrics when I hear them & they always get me. Pat Powdrill, Do It, ....If you wanna ruin me, ruin me & set me free, but if you wanna love, really love me, do it, come on & do it, do it right now...... Eloise Laws, Love Factory, You wanna put me on your assembly line, just come round & see me when you get the time......... Aid.
  15. Me too, Melvin Davis I'm the one who loves you........love it love it love ( I presume it's Melvin & not Darrell you refer too?) See no one appreciated my Joe Dolce re:my post above . Aid.
  16. I always find deep & meaningful lyrics to be very important. Might not be the most soulful record but these are unsurpassed. What'sa matter you, hey, gotta no respect Whatta you tink you do, why you looka so sad Itsa not so bad, Itsa nice-a place, Ahh shaddupa you face Aid.
  17. Never was into em myself. A lad i Know flogged a badge at Lowton a few years back, the original Wigan one with Sept 23rd on (if memory serves), got £100 smackers for it which surprised me. I've still got that poster from Wigan though, would never part with that piece of memorabilia (even if, design wise, it's awful). Aid.
  18. This Alex Brown went on ebay tonight. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250980662647+#ht_1126wt_859 Aid.
  19. Melvin Davis I'm The One Who Loves You. OMG what a soulful record. You think your smart, cos your using me. But if your so smart baby, why can't you see........I'm the one..... Posted a link to Darrell Banks version cos can't find a link to MD, but imo the Melvin Davis song is one of the best soul records I've ever heard in my life. But listen to it a 55 seconds, that's the bit that gets me every time. Cheers ears Aid.
  20. Just noticed a couple of artists spelling wrong, it this dam iPad, corrects as i type, pain in the arsenal :-) Aid

  22. Original posters Lynn Randell is a good choice. Lots a big white tunes at Wigan, although not sure about the soulfulness now, the lines were blurry in those days, helped by certain dj's who would play anything it seemed, but at Wigan, two blued eyed tracks that got there fair share of hammer on the turntables & always liked were Paul Anka's When We Get There & Lou Roberts Everthing You Always Wanted To Know About Love. Just remembered another, JC Messina Time Won't Let Me (covered as Bob Segar), seen one of these go for $9 the other day. O.T. Question?? I was watching a copy of Rose Brooks, I'm Moanin on Soul City go for $330 dollars last night, it was a red issue, I've only seen white demos, how rare is the issue? Aid.
  23. The worst sound quality on a repro I ever heard hands down, was Velvet Satins Nothing Can Compare To You, I'm sure it was recorded in an outside toilet next to an airport, good job the track was only about a minute long. Aid.
  24. Is that Edwin's autograph in capitols on the sleeve, would have thought he could do 'joined up'. Aid.
