  1. Got me eye on a couple, just wanted to know a nice price for these two. Ronnie Love Let's make love on Almeria M Future 2000 Good Things on Kimsha. Not sure if I'll get involved, just more generally interested to be honest really. Aid.
  2. I know this is an old thread, but got talking to a guy a last months Lowton, he was selling metal pin badges. Used to go to The Wheel, not really that interested in the scene anymore he said. Anyways, we were talking about this very subject & he was a shop designer. By the end of the 70s if you were still wearing bags & a full length, you were not really on the pulse to be honest. Wigan had its 'cooler' days half a decade before that, before my time. We were talking about the coolest shops in Mancester, came up with a list I was shopping at by then he had worked on most of them. Jonathan Silvers, Last Picture Show, Zap, Manolo, Othello all cool as you like, years a head, mostly Italian designers before they were household names, I was shopping at these places & still going to Wigan, but not many were, the current scene at Wigan at that time was way behind & never caught up, it wasn't fashion, it was dam right old fashioned even then. That's what's been missed in this thread, Wigan (the fashions I mean) was cool only for a short period early doors. Aid
  3. Yeah probably right Chalks, never sure of the definition of BB, suppose something like Roy Hamilton Panic Is On could be a good guide, great closer that one is. Good game this up to now, Spanish goal really sets it up. Aid.
  4. Also while i'm at it, got to include Johnny Rodgers Make A Change, not sure if it qualifies as a BB, I guess it does, could be a bit uptempo, not sure. Aid.
  5. My tastes ever changing. But this takes the biscuit for me (at the moment). luvin it luvin it luvin it...... Aid.
  6. Wow, really interesting posts, keep em coming. Never seen a picture of The Twans before. Any info on J.P Robinson.....Miami artist?? Aid.
  7. Are you taking offers on the floral wiggle summer dress? :-) Aid.
  8. We were pulled in & searched walking back up to Wigan station on a Sunday morning once. I didn't use barbs (as i value my life, can't say that about some other substances that a different story), but one of my mates had some Tuinal in his back pocket (I remember he had on those horrible Spencer trousers with button up back pockets too, so I don't know how he managed to get at them). These two plod had screeched right up to us from behind from nowhere & had us all under control in an instant Anyway, we were all made to sit still on a bench (think it was a bus stop seat) with our hands out in view on our knees, while these two plain clothes Serpico's searched us one at a time. I remember my mate, who was a proper mentalist, mouthing to me he had the tablets, anyways he somehow managed get at to drop them through the slats in the bench before he was up for a search & they were never found. A lucky escape, we laughed about it later on the train, but on reflection, maybe not so lucky, because the same lad had a long history of abuse & still has, he ended up being sectioned, jailed & all kinds, he has had a sad life to be honest & early intervention may just have help him, he really didn't know what a game of roulette he was playing with those deadly things, its was viewed as kind of cool in those days by some people. As I say, I'm no moralist & certainly no angel have my vices, but barbiturates are a whole different league, I can't believe more people didn't actually die. Aid.
  9. Hey Bob, you could always name me in your will :-) Aid.
  10. Hey D, I believe you are right & can recognise the traits you see in a few people I know as either one or the other. Some people would sell there own children to obtain certain black shiny discs just for the oneupmanship & satisfaction. Sad when you lose sight of what's really important in life. I was talking to a lad at a soul night with 50,000 at home, said he had never sold a record in his life, only bought obsessively, unfortunately the said guy is seriously I'll, not passing any judgement, but just wondered to myself about all that effort & it's worth. Aid.
  11. Graig Moerer got some nice records end tonight. Couple of questions. What's the going rate for Marquee Revue What Good Tomorrow on Pacific Avenue? Also the going rate on the fantastically named Baby Dave Greenlee We Need Love on Steel City? I may or may not get involved in the auctions, but just wondered the going rates for these to as they both look a couple of decent records to own. Cheers ears Aid.
  12. Chandlers Your Love Makes Me Lonely. Agents Trouble Rita & Tiaras Gone With The Wind. Three tunes that made my jaw drop the very first time I heard them (in my case, main hall Wigan Casino). Aid.
  13. It's a fair point Bob & I see that logic, I'm no stamp collector but I'm a graphic designer & used to work for a stamp magazine, plenty of different (specialist) genres in that world too & I read very similar arguments put forward about global prices & the Internet, not saying its the same, just think its a question of generic supply & demand & is bound to inflate. Not saying there is any logic in why certain one do & certain ones don't. Aid.
  14. Personally think its a no brainier, post internet, as the market is now global including the u.s & Japan, like any market, with increased demand for limited commodity & prices will inflate, you could apply the same logic to philately or star wars shite. Not saying the rarity reflects the value necessarily, cos it clearly dont, but that's what happens. On the other foot, as more players enter the game, some records are frequently turning up more, that were previously thought more scarce and so contract in price. Aid.
  15. Thanks for the post, sounds like good advise. I decided to leave the Danny Woods You Had Me Fooled as it happens, sold for $77 (it was $30 when I was watching it), still a snip if you could clear the skip. I've decided to up the quality of all my records purchased in future, just get so tempted when i see a bargain. Managed to resist the temptation this time. Aid.
  16. Yeah was thinking something like that. To be honest, going to give it a miss I think, keep telling myself condition is all important, then I see a bargain & get blinded, but i'll leave it alone. Danny Woods Fooled on Correctone is the record. Aid.
  17. Once a record skips, will it always skip or can a really good cleaning sometimes make it stop? Got my eye on a record i want (for some time) with a few skips, but I thinking of taking a chance as it's going for a song (no pun intended). Aid.
  18. Ah right, that'd make sense. Wonder if Leonard Chess was personally involved in that? You cant keep a good man down for long though, I bet Berry never forgot about that. Aid.
  19. I've had one of these, unfortunately mine was in as bad shape as this. But what a piece of history, the first (I think) record ever put out by Berry & Smokey cat number G1 (probably for Gordy I'd say) in 1959. Manship has this down as about £400 in one of my guides, that'll be for a minter, not trashed like this & mine was. Just wondering, what was the lawsuit about that the seller describes? https://www.ebay.com/...49#ht_865wt_953 Aid.
  20. Superb, I'm especially loving the Gladys Knight & the Toni Washington. Bravo! Aid.
  21. Sorry, replied with wrong quote, meant to reply to Chalky's, don't know who to delete. Cheers Aid.
  22. Hey Geoff, Aid here, how are you doing man? Hope all is well with you, we should hook up for a soulful night out sometime mate? Be great to see you pal. Take care. Aid.
