  1. Jimmy Hart Teahouse (mercury). Never see one of those anywhere, not saying they are not out there, an issue must be v v rare though. Aid.
  2. Bob Hindsley is still DJing, best sets I've heard for ages. Every single one an absolute gem IMO. Aid.
  3. Cheers Dave, Didnt see that thread, great tune that. Mods will hopefully move this then Cheers. Aid.
  4. Anyone noticed the Shirley Walhs Thats How Long I'm Gonna Love You. ( King ) on the t.v. add? Think its for a company called 'Simply Be' or something. Great track this, what is it a £20 or £30 record or so? Where did this get played out originally then? Aid
  5. It just a pop record, but not a bad one. I like that Chicago House beat & soulful tennor sax, good pop I'd say. Bandwagon video, nothing to do with Northern really, but so what? We should get ready for a wave of this type of thing if Elaine Constantines movie really takes off. Would it be such a bad for the continuity of the whole scene if it does, its just a generation away from extinction as it is. Aid
  6. I just say 'Northern Soul', most have an idea, but then follows the embarassing talcum power and The Snake conversations, then I exit the conversation at the first possible chance. I always wish then I'd said The Dooleys or The Rubettes. Sometimes I skip Northern Soul altogether and just go with my other music loves, some being just as obscure to be honest, but somehow I don't mind getting into conversations about them, I don't like to do the same thing about Northern Soul, with the uninitiated for some reason, which is weird really. Aid.
  7. Great record, I first heard/knew about DYLMB at Wigan I think, was it a pre-Wigan spin? Aid.
  8. I know I've already had my say, but thinking about NS standard that always does it to me without fail then I suppose I'd name. Bobby Hutton, Lend A Hand. Aid. I mean.....surely as soulful as it gets?
  9. Mine change all the time. But this week it's.... Masquaders That's The Same Thing. Pee Wee Shuck & Huey, Beside Myself, those high harmonies are something else altogether on this track. Two monsters that tingle my spine. Aid.
  10. This happened to someone I know very well, lent a Mel Brit out (in a box full), when box came back, the Fip was an obvious pressing. Said person had to make threats (which he would have happily carried out), he got the equivilent in cash in the end, excuse being, someone else had swapped it out. Some people are lower than a snakes belly. Aid.
  11. So when does this auction actually finish then? Cos originally was down for tonight. Aid.
  12. Ahh, is onto next weeks auctions now? Aid.
  13. What's going on? This wasn't due to finish til about 9 tonight. Has it come off the market or just a website blip? Aid.
  14. Had to miss this....again, unfortunately, for me, unavoidable on a personal level. But Jesus Christ, looking at that playlist.....I really missed out, I mean.....Jimmy Gresham, top diggity dog.....Just sorry couldn't make it this time. Aid.
  15. That was a great set Baz, really enjoyed. Aid. Edit: should add the quality of every set was superb in both rooms, some great quality at Lowton lately for sure.
  16. Great reading that, what year?? Jocko and I don't see eye to eye on politics, but what a wealth of soulful knowledge. Aid.
  17. Yeah, I tell you what, you wouldn't want a bite from one of those would literally take your fingers even hand clean off. They do attack divers, very very nasty. Aid.
  18. Looks like a moray eel I think. Aid
  19. I loved Toni Basil's Breakaway at Wigan, what a choon, but when I first seen the video to Hey Mickey, I loved her even more I think, what a beauty she is/was (don't know how she scrubs up these days) Edit: just looked her up on google images, looks likes she had a bit of work done if you know what I mean. I know she was heavily into dance & choreography too, she sure was a stunner me thinks, hope the sexist brigade don't object to this post, as it is obviously overtly sexist, but I don't care Aid.
  20. Wow, didn't even know about this tour, really interesting. I presume that's the same ABC in Station Rd, across the road from The Casino? Aid.
  21. This week. JUDY FREEMAN HOLD ON. ROSE ROYCE STILL IN LOVE Last few weeks had an early 80's soul/jazzy vibe going on, this has been getting hammered in my house. What a monster monster tune, love the jazzy bits later on. Aid.
  22. listened this morning, was just about to get up, kept me in bed glued to the radio, superb. Bravo R4, once again. Aid. Edit: Mind you, I'm entertained and fascinated with the Shipping forecast.
  23. Like the post Rob, but what about Earl Scruggs & Lester Flatt.......come on man. Come and listen to a story about a man name Jed...... You can't beat that my son! Aid.
  24. FABULOUS APOLLO'S THE ONE ALONE takes some beating for heartbreaking soul for the guys. For the lasses, well, the subtle soul in CELEST HARDIE'S YOU'RE GONE does it just a well, without balling her eyes out, it's still just as heartbreaking. Aid.
