  1. Ahh right, knew Id asked, but either missed or forgotten reply, bit senile lately bud. Love Starved Heart is a mega tune IMO.
  2. Value is subjective, just a reflection of individual whims. In philosophical ethics, the positions called emotivism and expressivism demote value judgments to statements of personal preferences. Such views, however, reflect a naïve view of emotions, which are not just perceptions of physiological state. Just jokin, great record.
  3. Okay, while were on the subject of Motor City. Which is the rarest Marvin Gaye Love Starved Heart is it Brown Tamla? And what is the score with Marvin's Past Time Love, did it ever get an issue?
  4. Sorry Peter, you are quite correct. A Field In England.
  5. Good luck to you Paul. Caught the play live and shall now be viewining it on Vimeo. These people are leeches. Unfortunately, the large corporations do not see the writing on the wall. A Garden In England, an new English Movie by Graham Whitely, went out tonight, free on Film 4, on demand, in the cinema, is out on DVD and available to download, all on the same day, a masterstoke in marketing, this is a very significant move indeed, and will be emulated, taking marketing power into the filmakers own hands, the power will be sucked dry out of the big studios, eventually, forcing them to re-invent themselves, which can only be good. Same will happen to music too.
  6. Linda Elliott, Fell In Love With You Baby. Just popped into my head the other day, absolutely stone cold forgot this record ever existed. Bit poppy for me to be honest, does it ever get spins these days? Massive one for the fillies at the Casino, I can tell thee.
  7. Alabama Shakes were great, that lead singer is very soulful & uber talented. Im now a fan.
  8. Got it all recorded autumn. Will catch up with it mate.
  9. A claim to fame indeed. I presume Macca is 'McManus' then. Ever meet his Mrs? She can croon a bit too.
  10. On now with BBC app on Tivo, Nile Rodgers sounding gooooood to me!!!
  11. If your names not down................
  12. Oh yeah, you right Pete, Robert Wyatt indeed, I stand corrected sir.
  13. Hope Portishead are on the Beeb, absolutely love them, also quite like Foals, they are on in a bit.
  14. Edit: wrong thread, sorry.
  15. Yeah, know what you mean with that, but Tom Waits did make it his own.
  16. To be fair, it's £200 for a weekend ticket for this weekend, it will cost you £150 for the cheapest Stones seats on upcoming concerts in the summer, so really, you are quids in at Glastonbury if you get to see The Stones, so that can't be bad.
  17. Yeah, Shipbuilding cover is one of my favourites from him, just think he'll put on a good all round set too. I dont wanna go to Chelseaaaaaa!!!
  18. Bobby W Should be good, looking forward to that. Love reading the banners at Glasto, seen one the other year, said "Golf Sale (and right arrow)" right in the middle of the crowd, genius. On a down note, can't stand girls that sit on their boyfriends shoulders, mouthing lyrics.........talk about attention seeking..........It's probably just me, I'm a bit wierd about some things. P.s. This weekend mostly looking forward to Sheffield's own Arctic Monkeys, Rodriguez also Seasick Steve, oh and Elvis Costello should be good live too.
  19. Okay, what's the story with this record then? Don't know much about it other than its a rare recording. Does it exist on acetate only, or did it ever get an official issue? I'm just interested that's all, and I've never seen it.................over to you Motown anoraks then.
  20. Always remember that Melton Mowbray address, I used to send off for Manships tapes in the 70's along with a postal order, couldn't wait for those little Memorex Cassettes to arrive in the post, always full of the rarest and best music, probably more cutting edge than Searling at the time, because you always got a good mix, Soul Sam stuff too, stuff yet to be heard at the Casino, trouble was, no track list, used to have to work em out yourself, maybe looking at the back of Black Echos for a Sam current playlist or something, no internet then.
  21. Great post that Zed, and very true too. People all have their very own version of WC probably depending on how old they were & when they actually went, (me being later years). But still the greatest ever NS venue, bar none, nothing else can live with it, good and bad. I've read all the books on the other venues, the great tunes broken at Cats in Wolverhampton (which in my mind is probably thee most underrated on the scene just for its musical contribution alone, with Mecca taking all the Catacomb credit), read all about the usual other suspects, but WC rules supreme in my mind. But I would say that cos it's all I really know, but I'm right.
  22. I only went in, maybe 5 or 6 am or later, after Searling and usually the next main hall spot, maybe go find all my older mates from Warrington who all loved M's and used to call the main hall (little did they know what they were missing, and most of em got into those 'newies' later on). Always a stream of people the corridor/room in between M's and main hall, some coming, some going. I might be wrong, (because the plans above), but I seem to remember the DJs had a little stage of there own, like a little island, nothing behind them either, it was all open plan and you could walk right around it, I might have dreamed that? Brian Rae was always the main man in there anyways.
  23. Top of my head some great cheapies...... don't know if a 5er, but cheap as chips purely for what's in the grooves & not for any label kudos or rarity value. Which kind of falls in with the spirit of the thread. Bobby Bland, Shoes. Duke Jackie Ross Dynamite Lovin. Chess. Garnett Mimm, Prove It To Me, U.A. Contours, Just A Little Misunderstanding, Gordy. Shirelles, Last Minute Miracle Wand. (guessing a bit more 5?) great Wigan spin though.
  24. Think I've got it covered, fingers crossed no glitches, should be fine, will let you know mate.
  25. Hi Rich, I'd gladly help if I could. I can record radio onto my Tivo Box, but not quite sure how I could digitise that to computer. I'll have a little look to see what software I can pick up to record it straight to computer, I'm sure I could pick something up. What station & show is it mate?
