  1. Superb that list Pete & right on the money for the Ritz Dayers too. Brainstorm & Fat Larrys Band, massive. Ginger still spins Will Powers now, great tune that.
  2. Wonder if this seller one of the Topics? Read the blurp, says he sang on the record? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Topics-TOKEN-Choice-Of-A-Million-Girls-Man-45-SWEET-SOUL-MODERN-BOOGIE-FUNK-/181215837545?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item2a314e3d69 Any thoughts on a great group?
  3. Big tune at the Ritz soul/funk dayers Lavine/Curtis etc, always loved it then, still do. They were spinning some great stuff in those days. Im sure Ian D on here will fill you in with the whole story, think he would have been arond the turntable in there too.
  4. Won't be bothering just for that me thinks. Sorry to highjack the thread, back on topic then.
  5. Very true that Baz, the whole thing us usually misrepresented or just caricatured, they say no publicity is bad publicity, I dont think so in this case, rather not see anything at all than all that. The most authentic Ive seen up to now is probably the play, Once Upon A Time in Wigan, they had the feel right.
  6. Im sure there were more people involved Chalky, I do remember Richard getting a call out on the mike about it. I think that getting an authentic feel is important, but real anoraks might get precious about every little detail, Im not that bothered, in the grand scheme of things, i reckon they will get the feel of it right, hope so anyway. Will probably going up to the KGH for the preview in a few weeks time. Does anyone know if its a full screening? I think someone on here said it was just more trailers, wont be going if its just for that.
  7. The film is set in specifically 1975, they went to great lengths on this, we went up on the filming day and they even checked our watches, told to turn them inside, no nike swooshes etc, although Adidas would have been ok okay i presume in 75? not sure, anyways they are trying to nail it bang on, I think they will do a graet job, looking at the dancers hairstyles etc. Elaine was consulting Richard all day bout different things. Dont think its worth being pedantic and geeky, but it should be right on the money for 75 (which was before my time)
  8. Wow, never knew it was WH for Phonetics on vocal. The M&S of soul, a stamp of pure quality.
  9. Don't apologise Emjay, it's just opinions. Obviously a great group, West coast? Anyways, I got me eye on one on those with Pretty Girl on evilbay at the moment, shame the one with JABD is way out of my price league, just wondered why the double release though?
  10. What's the story with this record? Great record and I personally love it, just my opinion but I prefer it to Just A Boys Dream. But I see this was put out twice by Trudel, did this happen a lot? What would the reason for the label do this in those days? Just wondering is all?
  11. He sounds like such a whitey! Like it though.
  12. Watched a movie last night called Lovelace (about porno star Linda Lovelace), she does an interview with a certain DJ in New York........no less than Frankie 'Loveman' Crocker himself. Also title track is superb, Gladys Knight I've Got To Use My Imagination from 1973, what a wonderful tune that is, presuming that'd be on Buddah around that time? Anyways great track. Film not bad, but sound track is good, think I caught an Eddie Kendricks track somewhere in there too, but forgot which one now, but could be wrong.
  13. Wow, now why didn't I see that!!
  14. A verse that does it for me, every time...... Sitting here with a broken heart, wishing you'd come home. Sitting here with a broken heart and I just can't go on. You give me HEART TROUBLE, and my life just ain't worthwhile. Without your love, I can't even force a smile....... Heart Trouble, Parliaments. I like it......, I like it a lot........(in voice of Dumb and Dumber's Jim Carrey!)
  15. You come across as a really nasty person with posts like that. Hope you are happy when you look in the mirror each day, we are only here once, you need to cheer up a bit.
  16. This was considered an uber rare record in the very mid 70s, it changed hands for large amounts of wedge, amounts not relative to its value today. Still love that intro today. Edit, Pete S will know better, but there were stories of this selling for £400 back then Im sure, talkin 75/76 maybe? But i remember it being talked about.
  17. Yeah, agree with this poster, always seems to be loads of trashed Moira copies on t'internet. Great tune, piano rif thingy at the start is super classy IMO.
  18. This seller clearly has a grasp of the Northern Soul market, maybe a sign of things to come when we vote NO the EU referendum
  19. Hi folks. What the going rate (or a reasonable price to pay) for Parliaments Heart Trouble on Golden World VG++ & Marion Stewart I'm Must Be Losing You on OR in only VG nick. Cheers ears.
  20. Pete, grew up with most of those tunes, great stuff. A good friend of mine called Russ from Warrington who passed away a long time ago now, has 'Ordinary Joe' on his gravestone, great man, great record that too. Still pretty rare these days isn't it? Maybe not rare, but not too common?
  21. Yeah, i got that. Ikea is like going to see Blackpool lights, once they got you in, no turning back, you got to Keep On Going like Gary Haines, no escape, until you come out the other side, then you are free again.
  22. You are best sticking to your great 80s memories, seriously, its great you had a good night but these new nights on at the Parr Hall are real a handbaggers event, nothing to do in any way shape or form with the real soul nights back then, Ive been to a few of these new nights and agree, its sad, getting pestered by idiots like that tells you something, dont happen at 'proper' events does it? I dont bother with these new nights having been to a few. The good news is, theres plenty of great events around.
  23. Love Groove Armada, Sand Dunes & Salt Sea Air, for a day like this.
