  1. I was at the Bingley Hall as well on the Thursday night performance. It was only my 2nd ever live gig, first one was a few years earlier at Batley Variety Club on a Saturday afternoon (The Stylistics). The E.W.F. gig was amazing for a young 18 year old lad like myself back then, as I'd also started getting into the disco/jazz-funk sound the year before (followed the Northern Soul Scene since 14) and was blown away by the E.W.F. stage act. I saw them again a few years later at Wembley, but that first gig was the best for me, probably still my all time top live gig, along with Stevie Wonder at Wembley around 1980. The Stevie Wonder gig was special, as it was the last night of 7 nights he'd performed at Wembley, and he had as surprise guest's Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross join him on stage...
  2. Just email the guy through ebay and ask him for his personal email address so you can go in to Paypal and send him the money (as goods purchased). You don't have to pay through the ebay page link page, just as long as you pay him via Paypal for the item!
  3. The gig is in a hotel in the centre of town, so any other hotel in the city centre (if the venue hotel are already full) will be fine, everywhere is walkable!
  4. Just found two weeks ago on Amazon (of all places) a single in M- condition for $4.00, only one I could find prior to this was with a European seller on Discogs for 150 euros, result...
  5. Some tw*t in their office has dreamt this up as another way of them increasing revenue, to keep the share holders happy!!! They increased their fees a couple of years ago as well, and are registered in Luxembourg for tax reasons! Sneaky bunch this lot (parent company is ebay, so nice little earner going on, so good they can charge you twice! One for the listing/selling fees, and then again for getting paid through paypal.
  6. Link for both tracks now attached folks...
  7. Put this up earlier in the week and had a few messages about the record... Now REDUCED to £525.00. If still no takers shall put it on the bay, or even just stick it back in the box...hahaha (Good price folks compared to the last one on the bay at $991 last year!) Here are the important details: My M- copy of this in demand 7", that I believe was the last 7" release on Stang Records (promo copies only) for sale. B.B.P. - ( I'm In) The Prime Of Love / Funk You. Stang Records ST-5078. 1978 "Prime Of Love" is not on Youtube! Listen here on this attached link: https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myspace.com%2Ftherealbb4p%2Fmusic%2Fsongs%2Fi-m-in-the-prime-of-love-64936087&h=qAQFzNd1T Label has a small pen cross mark on 'Prime Of Love' side, and a pen initials signature on the 'Funk You' side (record plays nice and clean on both sides). First recording by Melissa Morgan on vocals, great soul track on one side, and a raw disco soul track on the flip side. A copy listed a few months ago had a slight warp to the vinyl (played fine) for £600.00 I'm looking for £525 + postage (recorded delivery/signed for) I'm near London, so pick up can be arranged for London area folks! Payment is by the following methods: cheque, paypal (payment to be made as a gift item only, buyer covers the 4% charges), or cash on pick up / meet in London. Thanks Mark
  8. Just an extension of the Northern vs New Release soul/disco-funk cuts that were getting spins at the Mecca! I remember back in 74' as 14 year old kid at school getting into Northern Soul, less than a year later I remember seeing a few older guys (15/16) at the local youth club dancing to Northern singles, but they were also shuffling along to the odd modern release of the day, such as George Benson's ; 'Supership' & The Trammp's : 'Hold Back The Night'. I started to attend Cleethorpes in 77' at the age of 16, basically as soon as I looked (possibly) old enough to be let in...LOL! There was always a healthy attitude musically at the Wintergardens towards 60s & 70s tunes. It was only a a few years later that I realised that the records I liked the most back then were mostly 70s' issues (sweeter string arrangements, tempo maybe not as frantic, and even a bit of percussion included), stuff like Jobell Orq : 'Never Gonna Let You Go' for example, even though that is an uptemp cut! I was one of those guys that were "Sent To Coventry" by some of my fellow Northern Soul following town's folks!!! I'd really got more and more into the 70s sounding stuff that was getting played, and finally went over altogether after attending the 3rd Anniversary 'Ritz AllDayer' on a Easter Bank Holiday in 78'. I arrived that day looking like a traditional Northern Soul dressed boy, and was fasinated by the 'other' crowd who were dancing to the new stuff (they appeared to be having more fun, and in some cases even dancing together with girls, shock horror!!!...hahaha, I even enjoyed some of the tracks played and found them uplifting as well. The AllDayer itself was a mixture of Northern followers, and the new disco/jazz-funk followers. The DJs played an hour of each styles of music, that upon reflexion was not a good idea! There was a tension in the air between the two crowds that sometimes spilled over almost to fights on the dance floor at times! So after that profound weekend I started dressing in different clothes and not buying Northern much anymore. Many years later I now purchase soul, disco, jazz, blue-eyed soul, world music and good new released stuff from a broad dance music spectrum. But I'd love to be able to go back just once to a Cleethorpes Wintergarden event from 77', and to that musically pivotal day at The Ritz in April 78'. Great days indeed folks... Mark GV Taylor
  9. Yes Steve, Melissa has a great voice, and obscure enough for "Prime Of Love" to not even be on Youtube!!!
  10. See that the last copy on Popsike fetched $991.00 (£656.00) Few people already shown an interest about this double sider gem, c'mon folks before I have to take it to the dreaded bay!!!....hahaha

  12. Hi, I know we're one year down the road, but did you ever manage to find a copy of Vivian Reed? I have a nice minty U.S. demo copy( with the big red A on the label) with original Epic sleeve also in mint condition. Also, have the following going spare: Barbara Randolph : Can I Get A Witness. Soul / Motown Records Vigon : Baby Your Time Is My Time. Egg Recods Email me back at msttaylor@virginmedia.com with a reply Regards Mark
  13. I seem to remember a sign above the entrance doors that said "Through these doors pass some of the most beautiful girls in the world". And to be fair, always was a fair amount of pretty girls at the All Dayers....LOL!
  14. My very first All Dayer was Sundays at Cleethorpes Wintergardens, as a young 16 year old in early 1977, that took some beating. But then I went to the Ritz 3rd Anniversary All Dayer on Easter Sunday 1978 and had a revelation music wise, changed my direction and life altogether I'd say....LOL! So for me it would have to be the following: 1. The Ritz 2. Cleethorpes Wintergardens. Hard to choose between this and the Blackpool Mecca, but Cleethorpes had a more friendly together among friends/family vibe about it. Blacpool had a buzzing energy, but maybe too many competing tribes from the various UK locations who were trying to be the best on the day! 3. Blackpool Mecca All Dayers
  15. I've just listed my own copy of this rare independent Bay Area album from the group 'Sapphire', released on the Quantum Records label. It contains the track "Stay With Me" as well as a few other great numbers such as "Searching On". My copy was sealed when I purchased it, and since then has had no more than about a dozen plays (record still in shrink wrap). Here is a link to my Ebay listing for the record, plus a link to a copy that sold last week on Ebay.com that was not in as good a condition as my copy. Please contact me at my home email address that is listed at the bottom of the listing page if you have any queries. I also would prefer not to use Paypal for payment method so as to avoid their dreaded fees...LOL! https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260754534786&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT Link for copy sold last week, though for some strange reason the seller did not list the "Stay With Me" track as a sound sample! https://cgi.ebay.com/...#ht_1921wt_1141 Thanks Mark
  16. Sunnysoul has first dibs on the 7", but I have a few questions myself about the record! Daryl, How long is the 7" version, and does it have the voice over intro at the start and end of the track (like on the longer LP version). What sort of ball park price did you have in mind? Soul-Slider, Is the LP in good condition, does "See You In LA / Jet Plane Ride" play without clicks throughout the track? Regards Mark
  17. Hi, Long time lurker and recently joined up member... I have a copy of Jesse McFall : Think You Ought To Know from 1974 in VG+ condition. I'm looking for a copy with the B - Side instrumental that plays clean. My copy has a few soft clicks on the B - Side, and would like to be able to play the instrumental version on the radio show I do sometime in the future. Let me know if anyone has a clean copy, and also what sort of price your asking. Any help on this one would be much appreciated... Regards Mark GV Taylor - Happy Jazz Radio Show
