  1. Pete with records like that it would have been re-pressed to meet demand. Maybe an initial run of 10,000, then another 20,000, then another 20,000 that type of thing to meet demand. It's logical that that's where the orange label comes in since all prior releases were two tone blue.
  2. The Moments was 5066, both two tone blue and orange ones exist for 5066, 5067, 5068, 5069 and 5070. Then the following releases were just orange (and demos white of course).
  3. Original issue is two shade blue. The label shown above is the design they used for the last few releases and came later as it replaced the two tone blue label…..Sorry. But don't think is much too much later, maybe as little as a couple of months when they did re-presses.
  4. No it doesn't it's bollocks
  5. More incorrect information from you Ian. The song is nothing to do with a "girl's arse" as you suggest……another of your loose guesses that's just wrong……And it's all very well cut & pasting the lyrics from song lyrics website complete with the same typos, but you shouldn't be getting "likes" for posting info on here that isn't correct. "Backfield" players in football should not be in motion until the ball goes into play, so if they move before the ball is brought into play, then it's an offence. So the song is about a girl breaking the rules by being seen with someone else. Simple eh?
  6. Why have Mark Williams when you can have Millie Jackson? I do hope this ISN'T the next big thing for some unimaginative DJ…..
  7. Scepter took over soon after Gene Chandler took over running the Bamboo label from Andrew Williams since Gene had some tie ups with Scepter. 104 (Profiles from St Louis) was the first Scepter distributed release and used the white logo. The twin palm tree multicolour job came a bit later, after several Scepter distributed records (white). Before Scepter there was the simpler palm tree design as exemplified on Voicemasters (103) and Sylvia Thomas for example. Backfield in motion was released at the tail end of 1969.
  8. Hi Sam has had it back since then, and I think sold it again…..Mine came from Simon Murray...
  9. You are not going to remix it are you Lee? Please no.
  10. Both sides good Binsy, when I'm on at Majestic I'll spin it
  11. Great Ted that makes perfect sense and looking at label wonder what the "Maf" stood for! Still got a black glove?
  12. Agreed on ronnie Barnes Pete, I'm kicking myself because I paid considerably more for my copy when it was a 3-copy record....some you win etc....ATB Steve
  13. Ronnie Canada - wow - best soul piece you have ever posted on here Sooty. SS&W is the best version of "All I want is you" by far, and Caviar solid bass line dancer! Bring it on.... PS: Welcome back to UK
  14. So it's not recent at all then Tedward?
  15. Yep it's not really shown up in quanity to date. I have played it occasionally a few years back but it never really took off with the dancers or the spotters either...someone was trying to sell one on here recently but fish weren't biting.....good backing track and tune, but a slighly weak vocal...
  16. Good post Dave and good to have someone that was "in on the deal" at the time.....I got the album and never heard of the 45 until some years later, which is odd because we were mixing in the same social circles back in the early 90s (Bull Royston, Hemel, St Albans, Yarmouth etc.) - although in fairness there was a ton of stuff coming through.....and it was hard to keep up with everything coming in... If I had a dollar for every singer who claims their record was bootlegged I'd be very rich moderately wealthy. We've had it with others like Mixed Emotions (another California record btw!) where the label owner was clearly as mad as a box of frogs claiming originals were bootlegs and his reissues were the real originals! Not saying that of Gene of course, just re-iterating that just because he tells someone it's a bootleg doesn't make it a bootleg.
  17. Yes I did know that now you mention it....just remembered when seeing this auction and the label falling off that my copy is exactly the same, except I still have the detached label and it has WOL too....
  18. Is this a legit reissue? Just asking.
  19. Some fascinating stuff there on pressing plants used etc, from people that worked in 'em at the time......you could spend a night being a real trainspotter on there looking at label variations etc......Obvioously it doesn't major on rare soul, and has lots missing but it's still building and a very good source of information, largely because mostly they post scans of the actual records.
  20. OK cheers, I only went a couple of times due to a bit of a family crisis at that time - next you'll tell us it was Sam who was playing it then
  21. Distributor and bootlegger or just distributor including bootlegs?
  22. Someone will buy it now you've revealed that Dave….
  23. Creators is a great dance 45…..old Yarmouth play….someone buy it off of Greety...
  24. Ronnie Barnes looks cheap. My Cautions - the label has become detached too, but I still have it…..must be something wrong with the glue they used…...
  25. That's a pretty rare 45…..darn on hold already would have brought it to replace my vg+ copy…...
