  1. Repeat posting: Chuck Jackson's was the original of this song…..100%. Written with Luther Dixon and the story that goes with it and how it was written, is in various of Jackson's interviews…..
  2. Think the original distribution was rather ad-hoc, managed to get one for £40 soon after though…..would never sell it.
  3. Just seen this OMG! How the internet confuses people. Chuck Jackson's was the original of this song…..100%. Written with Luther Dixon and the story that goes with it and how it was written, is in various of Jackson's interviews…..

  5. Bob, we need Roburt here, to come on with one of his "pastiches" of Walter Jackson concerts from old magazines, then we'll know whether he appeared there or not….don't think it's Dick Clark, but I might be wrong.
  6. Excellent….can you imagine being in the audience for that….
  7. Never realised it had so many releases, missing numbers too…..yum.
  8. There is no whole set on the market. Nearest you'll come is the 8 or 9 DVD set, which majors on the bigger stars to appear. Unfortunately the singers we'd be most interested aren't there…..
  9. And I wonder who was Elvin B Roper…….
  10. I was pretty sure there was some reggae too (soft reggae) but on checking that looks like a different artist……some info on Soulful Detroit about Limmie Funk.
  11. He has made quite a few over the years, dabbled with soft reggae etc. Never made it, Russ told me it took ages to get the tape for "Turn you loose" out of him….which wasn't issued in the 70s as the B side of "Saturday night" in case anyone was wondering…..
  12. The press photo of the ebay copy should be "googleable" Pete.....
  13. Yes it is Limmie of Limmie & Family Cooking and Lemmie B Goode (Mercury etc.). L&FC were a three piece group who originally signed with Scepter, but then their producers switched them to Avco Embassy at the last minute for their first record in that incarnation. They had several hits here and settled over here as a result. After doing clubs for a few years they broke up. This was Limmie on his own, and another go at success which didn't work. Steve
  14. Not that much, recent copies £50 ish.....not much more for a demo really simply because people don't crave a particular style of 7 over an issue. There was a nice copy with a picture and press sheet a year or so back, now that was interesting....simply to see what had happened to Limmie after his early 70s hits.....
  15. Russell who lives near me has put these out. 500 copies then they are done. Very good double sider as it happens.
  16. Sad news…..Keith RIP
  17. Cheers Dave…..more than I thought on RSD….quite a busy year.

  19. Yes Chalky…..the engineer had a box full….but at the time it was next to a new release (except it wasn't) and there was no demand…..
  20. Was bootlegged as a WD, presumably by Soussan or someone.
  21. It's got a certain charm to it for sure, but a Van McCoy "rushed" B side......there's not even a full set of lyrics....la la la la la.....da da da n da da etc....
  22. Maybe I've been listening to 1 or 2 DJs with it too much, but they always seem to play it..... there is a story there - Mr Anderson will tell you if you ask, how the label didn't put it out at all, and the copies came from an engineer. John remembers the engineer hadn't been paid and got these Billy Woods records that he sold to John who remembers travelling down to Philly on the bus with the copies he'd just bought in his holdall.....that's where most of the copies that have surfaced came from.
  23. ISN'T IT PLAYED TO DEATH YET?
  24. Gonna have to did out my copy of The Notations…..
