  1. I am up for doing this, but need to get my Scepter books out first, then I have one other project just starting, so it's number three on the list……right now.
  2. Just look how some of those titles are now so in demand…..others not so……if only we had a crystal ball!
  3. I dunno John did shift a lot of those new releases he was picking them up from all over the place…..lots of people were just buying them. I was buying twenty plus every month...….we were spoilt for choice looking back.
  4. Yes, we should document early days of the modern scene through to the end of the 80s……the sounds, the faces etc. I don't mind doing a part of it…..just lack of time at the moment…..
  5. i agree with this. As a regular visitor to the West Winch barn in the early - mid 80s, the £3.50 stuff was usually 100-300 quantity. The more expensive front page stuff more likely 15-50 quantity…I didn't get it then, my copy came from Rod for £15 in the mid 90s…..time to give it a spin again….

  7. Kasenetz - Katz the masters of Bubblegum…but utter crap.
  8. Hi I still maintain if someone wants to have a birthday party, where it is and when it is entirely up to them……all this "you got to clear it with the local scene faces" is utter bollox….
  9. Maybe someone should write a rule book of what we are allowed to do and what we are not....."Northern soul Rules and Regs for 2014" .It's all getting rather regimented and daft. Where someone holds a birthday party is entirely up to them.
  10. Penny 2016 Original please…..SP&C……Thanks Steve
  11. Yes agree on tastes changing……I wasn't suggesting don't buy something that has been played by someone else you rascal, we all do that. But there are a number of big names on the scene who have NEVER broken a record of their own, or played anything "unknown" or "untried".
  12. In two of those cases the first person to open the Soul Bowl "soul packs" they came in….. whoever that was and btw it's Stevens & Foster…. I think far too much credit is given to some of the big names on the scene who in a lot of cases just get their cheque books out (or sales boxes) when something has already been broken and proven to be a winner on the dancefloor having been tried at a more local level.……It's the "I must have a copy because I need it for DJing" syndrome. I don't mean all big names because some of them are collectors who find the records or get the first copies before they are fashionable. But it's a really complex question because records come from so many different sources. Incredibly few are truly "unknown" at this point, mostly they are known records that are neglected or very rare so haven't had the exposure.
  13. herman kelly BARGAIN.
  14. Good grief man.....apologise for enquiring about booking a club? Include a promotor on the DJ line up for a private party? What? Whatever next, it sounds like the Mafia in New Jersey. If this was a pay on the door night I'd agree 100% and it would be bad to book a rival night, but it's a birthday party / private function FFS. Anyway there's plenty of empty clubs around, buyer is spoilt for choice really, take your custom elsewhere etc.
  15. Yes Jordi, dunno what the label were playing at not promoting such a good album…..Steve
  16. Hi Chris thank you, no idea on Chosen Few Band…..there's not many about….so it is possible I guess. Steve

  18. Hi don't know about the CD but the musical co-ordinator for the film was a chap called "Butch".
  19. It was a steady £75er for a number of years - not rare just in demand cos it's a good record. After Cliff started dropping the funky side at Lifeline etc., price went up as more people wanted it.
  20. I have a WD of What I want.
  21. There was something about this on Soulful Detroit Bob, indeed there were a number of them and they did get listed there by someone.
  22. Subtle, but I got it SteveS60.....I know immigration are a law unto themselves sometimes, but sorting out work permits for a short term 5 day visit etc. is nothing new is it? Interested to know was it left to Judy, or the promotors to get this right. Am not interested in seeing her, just interested to know who's fault this really is (apart from the Tories of course).
  23. You know my theory on this.....nothing further to add. Steve
  24. This is interesting reading we should keep it going….
