I first heard this via Soul Sam, early 90s…….it was, for a while, hard to find, but as already said, someone has found copies……I hate it when that happens -
Dancers Needed For A New N Soul Film Project
Steve G replied to dedji1955's topic in All About the SOUL
Man, you've gopt those dancing moves down to a tee.....What about the teapot pose at the end of the steps and before going back? -
No Kirsty, there is another version doing the rounds, from Ohio, if no one else can pin a tail on it, I'll dig it out tonight as it is at home. Same title and sounds almost the same, it might even be the same recording, I wonder if the Prodigal or Motown boys decided that the group name needed to be more rememorable and so picked Orange Sunshine. I'll have a gander when I get in.
-
Not sure Orange Sunshine was ever covered up - it's always been a cheapie the other version Demetrons or something (red label) was though.

Hi Dave, who knows how many they pressed. Naybe they re-pressed it with the additional credits, maybe they re-pressed it without the producers name. Just because it's a scarce disc (not rare), doesn't mean they didn't press a higher number or do two runs. Steve

Thanks Andy, spent most of yesterday trawling the internet for new stuff for this week.....doing an acetate special in hour 2 - will definately be something new there too
-
Great video, and they wonder why we love vinyl so much…...
-

-

I think you right…..

Hi Dave : Thanks mate, much appreciated feedback. I did a 2 hour Ref-o-Ree special 2 years ago when I was doing the afternoon show on Sundays, I think it's still on Mixcloud….or rather it was a Ted Jarrett show - since it included T Jaye, Tee Jay labels etc. as well. Next week the second hour is all acetates (Part 1), and the week after there's "An hour of Minits" feature. Cheers

Ian Clark had a picture of him from his funeral service......we published it in Blackbeat, wasn't a great photo.
-
Yes but not for sale. It's actually the first record I ever bought from Soul Bowl in 76/77 after hearing Richard play it at Wigan. £4.
-
Yep makes sense. Interesting they got em pressed at Columbia tho'. I wonder if some people are confusing the two, with all these tales of it being a cheap 45?.
-
Rare is the most over used word on this scene - often used to describe records that are temporarily in demand, but which also exist in quantity. Mel Britt - wasn't it legally re-presed in the late 70s, with a wider ZTSC stamper?
-
DJmadlad, that' the lad, doesn't he talk about the 500 press tuns of Robert Tanners 45s and recording them in his one track studio? I researched it for my book because Dawson Smith had a 45 on Scepter in the 70s….
-
Robert Tanners 45s were recorded in Dawson Smith's studio in Lynchberg. 3 or so members of the New Sounds had recorded as solo acts with Dawson. Think 2-3 year gap between Robert Tanner and New Sounds. There was a young guy in Lynchberg who interviewed and got the scoop on how it all fitted together. Google it when u stuck in TdF traffic with your meter off this afternoon Waynipoos....... :

Not sure this is in the right forum, but...... Has there been another Ebay change or have I been asleep at the wheel and just not noticed it? When logging into .com just under the sort facility (price lowest first / most recent added etc.) there is now a country showing defaulting to UK. When you chamnge it to US there's more items (because some sellers just sell to the US). I hadn't noticed it before and assumed that logging onto .com you saw all the US entries. Is this new or am I just dusty wilson on my Ebay skills?

Richard Searling Cellar Full Of Soul Returns
Steve G replied to Steve G's topic in All About the SOUL
I never went to THE PENDULUM (too young) so first hour was interesting for me. And the info coming out - even in the DJs top 3 - Four Perfections - I had assumed it to be the Steals brothers because their name appears on the writing credits, but was never quite 100% sure……it was confirmed they were in the 4 Perfections when at college on the show. Great songwriters. Phil - It should be repeating on Wednesday mornings 6-8 am, I'll try and find out what's happening there but sometimes it takes a week or two to get the schedule changed. What you heard sounds like a pre programmed selection….. Another show in a few hours! -
