  1. Pete Young has also been having digs too James…..you are right though some people have never been able to expunge their hatred of the northern scene. It'll go with them to their graves.
  2. Passing fad to wipe the sweat from you when dancing. I remember that I nicked one from the Nelson Arms in Tonbridge Very cool ha ha!
  3. I seem to recall going to a Keb Darge night at Annabelles night club in the early 80s….
  4. That's the point Ted, it's Butch's exclusive. Keep it that way, play something else ….Billy Jackson told me he had made more than one version of the song (unreleased), and that is where the backing track comes in.
  5. Sorry guys plays fine on my mac...
  6. It's got a better B side by a million miles Ted Massey..... Amazing never even heard of that before. I am sure it would have been pulled just as in the USA which makes it very rare....unless there is a garage somewhere in Kingston
  7. I think it was a good representation of sounds from the mid 70s….OK Suspicion was a bit of poetic licence, but apart from that nothing out of place as far as I could see….
  8. What you want is a documentary Sir….err. thought there had been a few already…..a documentary on Wigan Casino with all the usual talking heads wheeled out to tell us all the usual stories….again……
  9. Nope, not correct, the film was made before Universal appeared. For a while there was no distributor. Actually the musical consultant was a previously unknown chap from the Midlands named "Butch". You may have heard of him….
  10. Why the constant digs? It's a film, and Elaine is promoting her film, which since she and her husband have spent everything on making, she is perfectly entitled to do. Good on her too. Perhaps if you were there at the time you should have made the film instead then…. Oh, but you haven't.

  12. RIP sad news.
  13. Pete, Valerie insists the vocal is not hers. No one knows who's it is and I asked extensively, it could possibly be Jo Armstead because I never spoke to her. But they used the backing track and got the students to sing over it - sing in the loosest sense of the word of course - chant more like. It was a rush job, fill the session put out another record. The idea of pulling a demo off the shelf and just filling the session up by recording it, was almost certainly Florence's as her name is on the record as producer. Interesting the publishing company listed on the 45 - I spoke to the guy who owned that - Ed Silvers - and again he denies it is anything to do with him….not surprising really LOL
  14. Both sides Pete....they recorded four tracks using these students by my reckoning.....Marching was written by A-S-A or A-S can't remember which now, but Florence produced it herself - we reckon she just pulled an unused demo off the shelf and got the students to "sing" over it. Job done.
  15. I have an original of it….New Jersey students and almost certainly the Bound Brook Sound, one release before or after, same session different name - they sound very similar.
  16. Fallout…ffs….what is that? I know it's not your comment Winnie but what tosh. People go from cinema in search of baggies and local allnighter? Cinemagoers start demanding their own room at soul nights? Popcorn and Ice creams on sale at Lifeline? Mark Kermode supporters mass and storm Lens Den demanding stompers and dexys?…..Honestly what a load of cock.
  17. Kermode is someone I take seriously when it comes to film reviews. Knows 100 times more than most of the others.
  18. Looking back - a fair point. Could you imagine if they hadn't been there now? No This England - we'd be arguing over whether people really wore baggies
  19. We stayed away completely when Granada was in there, kind of deliberate decision....There was also a campaign to keep the cameras out the week or two before, but I guess the powers that be weren't interested in that....First time I ever went in 76 or 77 spent the majority of the night in the balcony and the record bar, only a bit on the dancefloor. That changed from the second time I went - as you say Pete confidence.
  20. Mine is the top red copy.....
  21. Should be easy enough to find….think Dave Welding had a spare a while back
  22. Yes there were several all dayers there 76-78....
  23. Not correct....there is quite a bit of info out there on her....you need to update your search engine man I even posted several pages of an interview she gave in Black Stars magazine.....it's in the Soul Source archive.
