  1. Not quite Dodge; the worst record is "Cat's Eyes" by Life. If Philips pressed that today they'd breach some obscure EU regulation about misuse of vinyl.
  2. ....as you do
  3. I've been going to NY regularly in the last few months - mainly for a day or two at a time, which has meant not a lot of time for record hunting; but I have to say I haven't been finding anything at all of late....certainly no Slyvia Striplin albums! Perhaps I am getting jaded....
  4. I think not.
  5. It's pretty weak in my opinion, but sounds great when stood next to the dire "Party time man"...surely the WORST thing the Futures ever did?
  6. "I got it" is the best of the 3.
  7. It was last on 6th Avenue after moving from 43rd St, but it ain't there any more. If it still around it must have moved again....
  8. Sorry - couldn't resist it..... Fact file: Tolbert did 3 records I think.
  9. Not anymore - you'll have more fun sitting on the end of the platform at Penn Central watching the trains roll out The shops in Greenwich are to be avoided - records are more expensive than here, and if you show any interest whatsoever in anything they immediately think it's worth a lot of money....Downstairs Records used to be good for browsing, but now gone, in my first two visits of 2005 to the "Apple" I tried to find it again, but it's gone. Around 4th Avenue on the East Side there's a couple of places last time I was down in that part of town late last year....best thing is to look in Yellow Pages and see what looks interesting, and is NOT located in Greenwich Village....
  10. :graynone:
  11. Go back and look at John's auction - he is now saying it's 60's, based on a Little Johnny Hamilton acetate which is identical to the Frank WIlson one....ze plot thickens....
  12. Yes red and white stripes....
  13. The earlier releases on the label were red. Never seen a red Jan Jones, unless by a marker pen. Ian did track down the label owner and bought a lot of copies in c 1983 - not sure if they were represses or just unsold copies from the guy's garage. Jimmy Brinson was also connected, and I heard Jan died in a car crash. We had a picture of her on the cover of Blackbeat playing her guitar.
  14. Price Guide = What John think's it's worth Auction = What some punter is willing to pay. End.
  15. It is....but he was white I think, so it's more likely a studio group he put together.
  16. A mystery artist as far as I can see - maybe someone under contract at the time possibly. It was played at Yarmouth (where else) on a Saturday afternoon by me, and I seem to recall Brian Goucher saying he was playing it out as well; though it remains relatively "lesser known".
  17. My eyesight ain't what it used to be, but that looks like a 12 from here
  18. .....and how different is it from the Third Time Around. I had this once, but cannot remember how it was now.
  19. How much slower is this? Acetate or something?
  20. Ok, fair do's. It's probably one of only a handful of records he didn't get at the time tho'.
  21. Most people under the age of 58 will not have all of them, unless a specific Mirwood label collector. It is still an excellent CD.
  22. Gash - you may well find Sam had it in the 80's, sold it and completely forgot about it when repurchasing it. Don't make me check those Blackbeats now - I'm sure I'll find it mentioned somewhere!
  23. I think Sam first played it in the mid 80's as part of the moddun thing going down then, and may well have reviewed it in Blackbeat or something. It then got forgotten about, and rediscoevered in 2001...
