  1. I thought it was Georgie Fame singing "Somebody stole my trousers"
  2. I wonder if the seller has realised that it's a boot, and has therefore bid on it to avoid the embarrasment of "withdrawing" the item. I'd prefer that scenario to the one where someone has actually bid this amount for a pressing.
  3. Top Man - you want to keep them
  4. "Don't spread your love around"
  5. They did another one of the label thats better. Too tired to go and search for it now. Some other good stuff on there too.
  6. You now know of two. Much better version.
  7. Thanks Pete, I was wondering why I had never seen one in twenty eight years. An urban myth then.
  8. Brilliant tune - still play it regularly in spots just to "up" the pace a little. Also like Billy Gibson's version
  9. I heard this too - on Emerald apparantly though I have never seen a copy myself.
  10. ARe you sure it was not released, and not on her Coup LP from the early 80's?
  11. Deffo the harder of the two releases - don't ask me about prices though
  12. Pete, no one called you a "twat". Stop being a drama queen.
  13. Well it narrows the time period down to about 5 years either side Sorry Ady!)
  14. No certainly not mine.
  15. Just checked and it did get there in the end.
  16. I can confirm that Ady was in his rare and short lived "beard" period back in those days of Hinckley - I have a photo to prove it. Believe therefore that it pre-dates Hinckley.
  17. Probably not, but we'll never know now.
  18. Denis and Sophia - think you are over reacting somewhat . Vic G's review mentioned "Dennis the Tee Shirt man" in one sentance, and although clearly somewhat "tongue in cheek" and possibly misinformed judging by comments, I think there was more to his review than simply a "piss take" over one of the scenes apparant "untouchables". Anyway, whatever happened to freedom of speech I wonder? Last time I looked it still existed in the UK - just - and frankly to take so seriously a throwaway line about someone's accent reeks of "political correctness" gone mad yet again. And before you get too high and mighty I can play that one back at you on the other turntable - your line about "forums on some of these sites seem to be increasingly frequented by a selection of very sad individuals. These individuals are easy to spot as they usualy have big phantom record collections, big mouths, very little experince of the Northern Soul Scene, and absolutely no respect for anything or anybody" is actually discrimanatory to those of us with phantom collections, big heads, lack of experience" etc. I may myself qualify on at least two of those counts. In all frankness and seriousness though, I'd rather hear an honest appraisal of a venue, than the usual "everything's rosey here tosh" I read in the official "soul press", and in that regard informal reviews and comments on forums such as this are all the more interesting for their "candour" and freedom from "political" repercussions / payback by angry promotors. So as a "paying punter" VicG is allowed to express his opinion, end of. What I'd actually like to hear is more about the "02 club", the sounds, the crowd etc. as it's only an hour tops away from me (even now since my voluntary "repatriation" from P/Boro nearly 15 years ago). Who are the DJ's - what are their top sounds? - have they got the vinyl etc. So tell us about that please D&S, rather than making a mountain out of a molehill of a line in VicG's original comments (and I also think you should lift the "ban" on VicG). Also when is the next one - who are the DJs for that etc? More please.
  19. It's refused to accept my question. Is there a limit on questions to seller or something?
  20. Think it was something like 595
  21. Are you Pete S in disguise?
  22. Some common terms posted by some sellers and what they really mean - additions welcome: Seller: "Northern Soul" Means: Any vinyl record from 1950-1985, includes soul music and everything from the Bay City Rollers to Ray Stevens "The Streak" Seller "Rare funk" Means: Anything not covered in the above description of "Northern Soul" Seller: "Will ship to: United States" Means: "I can't be bothered to go to the Post Office, let alone deal with any of you foreigners" Seller: "Condition looks fine to my eyes but I have no record player so cannot verify" Means: "I played this on my record player and it's got a loud hiss, but if I told you that no one would bid for it" Seller: "No Paypal" Means: "I'm a tight ass, or a technophobe, or both" Seller: "Good gloss" Means: "The record is probably a bootleg or a recent pressing" Seller: "I don't know anything about this record" OR "I don't know much about vinyl but just found this" OR "I don't know anything about soul music" Means: "I see it's listed in Manship's Price Guide at a lot of money" Seller: "Authentic" Means: "Bootleg / second press" Seller: "VG- with some / minimal surface noise" Means: "The record is trashed and unplayable" Seller: "Anyone with less than a zillion positive feedback score needn't bother bidding" Means: "I am an arogant git, with an ego that won't fit in most front rooms" Seller: "Very rare" Means: "There are actually loads of them about but it's old, and it's soul.....so I'll take a punt" Seller: "I have found another copy" Means: "I have a box full here which I'll drip feed out" Seller "Well packed" Means: "I'll wrap it in a dyper / bubblewrap, and a flimsy piece of cardboard and blame the mail service if you don't get it in one piece" Seller: "Will ship to Europe" Means: "I've heard all about you folks in Europe and the mad prices you pay for vinyl - now bid!" and finally: Seller: "Shipping Costs to be determined at the end of auction" Means: "I'll tell you my extortionate shipping rates, only after you've won"
  23. Yep lets have some more memories of the late 70's - surely no one's memory can be as bad as mine?
  24. This could rank as the worst financial "gaff" you've ever made mate - the clothes, wife and car fine - but the records? the house? Surely that would have appreciated by quite a bit in value since 1990 in that South Beds "Hot spot" where you reside - joking aside very easy for me to say that with heinseight.
