  1. ...and the excuse "Nah didn't bring it with me" when confronted with a "dodgy" request.
  2. It's a bit messy but it's not that bad Ted...Eddie K's group as it 'appens, and in case anyone didn't know.

I can remember Russ playing it at Wigan - probably 76 - not as old as you JV. I always blamed him for it, until more knowledgable (and older / wiser) sources on here "outed" the true "originator" Thank goodness nothing like this in your playbox these days.....or is there?

Yes - and I do actually have a copy too! Welcome back.

It wasn't recorded until about 1974 so don't believe so. It is one heck of a dreadful record, and an embarrasing low point on the scene,.,.

  8. Dave D - what a fantastic avatar!
  9. Hey I said I'd be loud didn't I.....
  10. Cheers Craig
  11. Correct. And it's pretty damn good 70's and an ex Yarmouth spin for me....may well dig out for the next New Chapter in fact....
  12. Gwen came first, Chuck covered it, and also on 7". Big Sam spin from 82. Used to trade at a healthy £10.
  13. Paid 20 for the 12 also. Still prefer Ike Strong though I must say...
  14. Don't forget his brilliant Crossover label and even better Atco side from 1977 "Lets get together".

For playing "Cats eyes" possibly? If so then it was probably me, but John it was only a water pistol. If it's a real story then tell us the full story rather than these snippets man!
  16. Yes and so did "Whites" in Tonbridge. They didn't even wait to see if they sold - just decided to split the boxes up. So we all went and got the Kim Weston for 60p or whatever, and they had multiple copies of the other 19 singles which they couldn't shift....
  17. But totally soul-less n'est pas?
  18. I thought James Bond was "Agent 00 SOul" - hence Sean Connery appearing in a promo film for Edwin Starr's Ric Tic release at the time.....
  19. Yes it was, but I can't for the life of me think who it was c/up as.... or why come to think of it...
  20. Not much at all - funnily enough it was covered up as Ramsey Lewis in the 70's as well.
  21. ...it's what's in the grooves that counts....
  22. Got mine from Dear Glove a few years ago - it was a front page focus job @ £6 for one week only. I think he had about 6-8 copies, and they flew out the door. Sam did pay a lot for his copy, but if I was a betting man I'd suspect "trades" more than "cash"....
  23. Cheers Lads - I think I'll start playing it again - it has been "rested" for a while now.
  24. Think you'll find Mark that Mike Baldwin sold most of his Uk stuff to Manship a couple of years back I also remember Brian Tilsey doing a "back flip" and half hearted "spin" in a disco in an episode in the mid 70's - it was Granada's "doffing of the cap" to NS in it's prime.
  25. Fair do's mate, I was probably over-dissing it in heinsight - if I didn't have the acetate I'd certainly play the released version no question.
