  2. Dave D - what a fantastic avatar!
  3. Hey I said I'd be loud didn't I.....
  4. Cheers Craig
  5. Correct. And it's pretty damn good 70's and an ex Yarmouth spin for me....may well dig out for the next New Chapter in fact....
  6. Gwen came first, Chuck covered it, and also on 7". Big Sam spin from 82. Used to trade at a healthy £10.
  7. Paid 20 for the 12 also. Still prefer Ike Strong though I must say...
  8. Don't forget his brilliant Crossover label and even better Atco side from 1977 "Lets get together".

For playing "Cats eyes" possibly? If so then it was probably me, but John it was only a water pistol. If it's a real story then tell us the full story rather than these snippets man!
  10. Yes and so did "Whites" in Tonbridge. They didn't even wait to see if they sold - just decided to split the boxes up. So we all went and got the Kim Weston for 60p or whatever, and they had multiple copies of the other 19 singles which they couldn't shift....
  11. But totally soul-less n'est pas?
  12. I thought James Bond was "Agent 00 SOul" - hence Sean Connery appearing in a promo film for Edwin Starr's Ric Tic release at the time.....
  13. Yes it was, but I can't for the life of me think who it was c/up as.... or why come to think of it...
  14. Not much at all - funnily enough it was covered up as Ramsey Lewis in the 70's as well.
  15. ...it's what's in the grooves that counts....
  16. Got mine from Dear Glove a few years ago - it was a front page focus job @ £6 for one week only. I think he had about 6-8 copies, and they flew out the door. Sam did pay a lot for his copy, but if I was a betting man I'd suspect "trades" more than "cash"....
  17. Cheers Lads - I think I'll start playing it again - it has been "rested" for a while now.
  18. Think you'll find Mark that Mike Baldwin sold most of his Uk stuff to Manship a couple of years back I also remember Brian Tilsey doing a "back flip" and half hearted "spin" in a disco in an episode in the mid 70's - it was Granada's "doffing of the cap" to NS in it's prime.
  19. Fair do's mate, I was probably over-dissing it in heinsight - if I didn't have the acetate I'd certainly play the released version no question.

The B side is a brilliant mid tempo oldie - always rated it higher than "Nightlife"
  21. I also like his slow version of "Your love's got me" - whether it's the same "Johnny" or not I don't know - the name Johnny Dollar was a cult slang name for flash cats with plenty of green or something (early Yuppies?) in the 50's.
  22. 'S'alright Girth, the Wand mix didn't come out and was destined as a follow up to his released side on the label - but the Genoveze family called in their debts before it could come out ......BUT it is THE version and makes both the Wheelsville efforts sound decidedly mediocre and flat - with added Tom Moulton mixing "oomph" as well - I used to hammer it to mucho acclaim wherever I DJed.
  23. Not the Wand mix though is it?
  24. Don't think it's that rare, but agree a goodie indeed. I also like their "Rat Race" which blows......
  25. Unless anyone else replies will confirm next time I'm at the lock up.
