  1. 4 Tops "I Just can't get you out of my mind" "Call me" were the last words I remember When the Spring became December And I still got no reply. Politely I would ask whoever knew you, What is was that I did to you, But they all new less than I" or something like that!! Lambert and Potter magic!
  2. To my mind Eddie's more of a northern guy than a modern guy Col - ex Scooterist etc., though obviously he had the Acid Jazz label etc. and has been involved in producing contemporary music for some years. Never really thought of him as a modern soul jock though.
  3. Agree with you there Steve - one I often play in the record room - never tire of it, though I play the 45 of course . Seems a lot of people actually like the Elipses then?
  4. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Jan 20 2006, 11:19 AM) link no the b side of this one is will you be staying after sunday got played at blackpool by ian levine do not know if played at wigan but i am sure it was mark That's the one.
  5. QUOTE(Awake 502 @ Jan 20 2006, 02:29 AM) Bobby Thurston "Just ask me"....... pure class... Agreed, but maybe not that well known for this poll. What??? A Wigan Casino classic my friend.....
  6. such sharp teeth you have Grandma!
  7. I love the other side of that - great stomper -
  8. Steve - if you don't get any luck I can put on CDr - agree with Pete Smith sentiments on this, and the vocals sound a bit weaker than I remember them when pounding out of "Russ' Everyman Sound System".....always quite catchy though
  9. How on earth can a DJ hope to break new tunes without the assistance of a mic to tell the audience what it is (even if it is covered )?....It's hard enough to break something these days even when sharing the title with the audeince....Oh I almost forgot, not too many DJs breaking new tunes these days . Also how does a DJ dedicate requests?.....garner enthusiasm "Letsbee Avenue" ala Delia / Russ Vickers...."Taxi for Sharon"..."Please leave by the nearest exit, do not collect your record boxes", "the next DJ is"... etc....there are enough no mic venues on the club scene without this essential piece of kit being abandoned in soul clubs. I say keep the microphone plugged in - if people don't want to use it, or can't then they don't have to.
  10. Yeah promo only Phat Philly remix 12 is the version, in case any casual observers are thinking "I've got that on CD" - the CD version is pants. Agree it's played out, unless of course it crosses over to the northern scene
  11. Hi ya Gavin - Front room, then Ritz Desborough, Gijon Spain, Soul Essence and Without Boundaries at Easter.Plus the "Big O" was muttering something at Hatfield about a moddun night at the Plinston in the not too distant.
  12. Different Geezer entirely "O".
  13. Right I've found it - the B side is "Rat Race" - not the Leaders song (which is excellent funk) but his own composition. It's a bit like Aaron Neville "Hercules", so not really one for the dancefloor. Back to "All those lies" then! Gr8 70s track. May well give it a spin on Saturday.
  14. Is he still supporting Oxford Utd?
  15. John also tells me he had some of this on Wand as well - wonder where they went? The problem at the time was there was so much stuff we couldn't afford to buy them all so had to pick and choose. Many of the things vanished, and have rarely if ever resurfaced.
  16. Yes styrene too - a 70's Monarch pressing (Delta numbers also) with horrible glue creases etc. But a great record, even if the singer is off key. Not sure if it is LA though, although it was pressed up on the W Coast. B side is funk but would need to play it ah home to remember how good / bad /indifferent it is. Might drop this in at the Ritz next Saturday (in the moddun room).
  17. "Now a fantastic soul record I haven't played for ages - Benzine and "Village of Tears"
  18. ......Peace and freedom is our goal
  19. Don't say that - he'll awake from his cyber slumber and we'll never hear the last of it
  20. The one I always love (so apologies to those that have heard it before) is Sam at Burnle All Dayer c 1983. "Next up Walter Jackson and "Touching in the dark" - dedicated especially to all the miners in here".
  21. Fac'inell Dodge - you actually been listening to my spots after all then
