  1. He was originally a cop and I think I've got a couple more by him. Obviously "disatisfied man" which curiously I have twice, but I think there's also another one too. Steve
  2. .......YET Make sure you don't get it on your hands or skin!!!!
  3. Neil Ty Karim and Alex Brown are different people as far as I am aware.
  4. The missus was watching a re re re run of an old Frost - what a good idea I didn't push to turn it over. Row and sulks avoided.
  5. I think we did an article on them in Blackbeat ?
  6. Yes good call.
  7. I'd add one that's not everyone's cup of tea - King Moses "I got the feeling" (Pet)
  8. Winfield Parker on Wand and Winfield Parker "I wanna be with you"
  9. good point JR...it was only VG / VG+ wasn't it?
  10. James. my son likes some northern to listen to, but he wouldn't be seen dead at a soul venue.
  11. Yes it was basically an Otis cover from memory. B side of what am I gonna do is also fab deep.
  12. Is "Don't find me guilty" the same mix as on the 7" or is it a remake? Steve
  13. He did 2 on the label - the others deep, but also good.
  14. Right well Phil Omega and Mel Omega were two Philly labels, and as far as I can see everything on them was good. Am I still missing the point? Or do you want things like say the Ambassadors on Atlantic?
  15. Yup I got into soul first, then "graduated" to rare soul several years later. I get very frustrated when I encounter blank expressions at the mention of Swann, Staton, Womack, Dells, NYC, Temps, JB, Spinners etc. These were the acts that got many of us into soul, and also the acts that inspired many of the rare soul numbers who were - to be blunt about it - trying to emulate their sound.
  16. Happy to start with Mel Omega - great little label!
  17. But Paul that's not a new phenomenon. It's always been that way with the scene over here, certainly since the early 80's. Steve.
  18. If this guy is working why can't he get a bank loan to cover his debts? The banks are clambering over themselves to lend money. Obviously an irresponsible buyer who'se eyes are bigger than their wallet. He won't be the first and won't be the last. I wonder whether he has bought things that on reflection he doesn't like? As for Paypal and transferring THEIR credit risk onto sellers who accept THEIR service for payment. Can anyone explain what do they charge sellers THEIR fees for then?
  19. 3. Evie Sands?
  20. Has anyone mentioned Audrey Royal's Playboy on |ALston - quite good norvern IMHO
  21. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Feb 2 2007, 09:45 PM) link storm she comes up pi kappa is this not a tk one never realised brand new was tk distribution i got lucky with that one £100 about 3 years ago always like the bluenotes standing by you girl bought as a new release mark ....Originally done by First Class b.t.w More mentions for the DASH label - Latimore Ann Sexton Jeanette Holloway Wildflower all fabulous. Betty Wright - loads on Alston, Charles Johnson anyone - the B side is great!!! Glades anyone mentioned Otis Clay "Special kind of love"?, or Timmy Thomas (Ebony affair, It's what they can't see etc) and true Image (again) Juana I'd also give a worthy mention to Fred Knight "When it ain't right with my baby" - 0ccasional Yarmouth spin, Blues time in Birmingham Frankie Sanders, and of course old C L Blast. Blue Candle anyone mentioned Robert Moore "Tears of the world" - gr8 x-over! I am sure I can dig out 100s more, as I am a bit of a Miami label freak but that's enough for now... Steve
  22. I'd echo that - I was working, but listening.....very good indeed.
  23. Not really rare, I seem to recall it was distributed by Pye. Interesting item though. I think I have said this in the past but the label went bust just as Will Collins was coming out. Steve
  24. Tamla Motown G reat Britain quite possibly
  25. Hi ya Niki, There is some crap on the label as well that's for sure. Maybe I'll start a new thread - Poor Philadelphia Still think the poor is outnumbered by the good though...
