You have to remember Simon that many of us were NOT fooled by these things and cottoned onto them as FAKES soon as we heard them or saw the records (tell Ian programmed strings maketh not a 60s record and the Damon pressing plant in Middlesex is a dead giveaway as well). So all this b*ll*cks about us being taken in is once again wholly inacurate - the records were controversial from the start. I DO recall Ian getting very upset when I and others said so, and denying it forcefully, but this isn't mentioned in the "re-write". SO this just looks like a poor and incorrect account of what actually happened. The reality was that Ian was adamant that these were legit 45s from the 60s, and at the time it had absolutely nothing to do with trying to show us "know noughts" that a good northern soul record could be made 30 years later. Karl I am sorry that you've had this experience. The Ian guy, the subject of this thread, seems to have numerous issues, and I am all in favour of naming and shaming those that don't treat their customers with respect, or send records or payment when they've entered into a sale. Naming these goons is a public service that helps prevent others falling into the same trap.

The 12 " was a natural progression from records with a Part 1 and Part 2 which meant that DJ's didn't need to have two copies. I also remember Moulton saying that you could get better sound quality with a 12.

Motown had one of the first ones I think. Early 1976 was the first year. Before then I know Tom Moulton for one had ben experimenting with extended mixes.

Agree "Are you for real" is the side - just dug it out. Also they did another duet on Pzazz "Just a little step" which is pleasant without being outstanding.

Now I've read that I am tempted to agree. It may well have been pressed twice. Mine is vinyl but has no raised "X" like yours, and it was bought years ago from a reputable source.
