  1. I found this pic on Mick Cooper's site (excellent site btw - thanks) and couldn't resist it for a caption competition. My first go is "Sam always suspected that DJ-ing on the High Seas was risky"
  2. Man of Kent or Kentish Man I guess? In my case neither as I am originally from sarf Lundun.
  3. West KENT - is that SE enough for ya?
  4. Yellow label thingy with a polka B side? I'd put it at 150-200. As a sound it has never had it's day.
  5. At the time in the 70s this was THE place to be. I have fantastic memories of WC, 2000+ under 25s bought together by one thing - the music. So don't feel uncomfortable for nominating it if you never went. It's not WC in the 70s that's unfashionable, it's 40 somethings trying to recreate it in 2007....in a shopping centre
  6. What a great find. Almost as good as the two copies of Wil Collins & Willpower I pulled out of Tricky Dickys Mile End shop in the mid 80s.
  7. U R 'avin a larf surely???? Seriously if you found this in Boscombe you did extremely well young man
  8. Yes I agree very rare on an issue - hard to price in todays SWONS

Get well soon Russ. looking forward to seeing you out and about on the dancefloors soon
  10. Yeah same for me. Never went, and wished I had.
  11. Yup Impulse in the High Street was good, but as I worked in London I also got to go to some of the shops there that had more choice on the import front. I do remember getting "Brazilian Love affair" LP out of there though. Jon's shop was as you know quite small and always full of disco equipment as well Steve
  12. Hey Tony, great to see someone who went to the same clubs on here...
  13. Tony, Didn't play there, though went religiously as a punter to the Lizzy Barn, Court school of dancing and the Beacon (Beacon less so - it was further to go and never was sure about "Peters Hi Fi"). My weekdays were thus: Monday - Barn (Keith seal) Tuesday - Court Wed - night in Thursday - Barn (though the Court ran for a while as well in competition) (Jon Vine) Friday-Beacon or Tennis Club Those were the days
  14. Late 70s, Kelsey Arms, Sherwood community hall, Showfields Community Centre, Tonbridge sea scouts hall, The Castle places like that. Steve
  15. Yes same guy I think - the Poormans 45 is excellent......I've never played it out but I do like it.
  16. Was thinking about this the other day - cracking bass line and rhythm, we used to play it a lot in Tonbridge/ Tun Wells.
  17. Grapevine singles aren't bootlegs Simsy - thought you would have known that The point about boots has been well made; we certainly don't play them round this way thank God. Hopefully none played at gigs round your way either Ian

Oh yes. The only positive I take out of it is that at last a few others are starting to see that Mr Taylor is hopeless..still looking forward to Dickoff in our shirt - he might install some of the passion that's so clearly missing from the bench.

Easily the rarest one on the label. Yes a complete mix, it was a fun label to collect because there are so many numbering series. When I did the article I missed out the Mar J's and the Tornadoes

Yes I did collect it and did an article in Shades of soul on this very label. Yes got Trackdown - prefer the other side.
  22. Ha I think all Ted Jarrett stuff counts......
  23. Yup all their stuff is worth it. Classic group soul.
  24. It IS the same label Andy- just an earlier iteration.
  25. hi Matt - you got the Gerri Grainger version? It's wonderful and can be picked up quite cheaply.
