  1. Hey no crime in being honest!
  2. Absolute crap - we need to be introduced if you think that
  3. Yes - again the man is a legend
  4. You must have been as I've never seen a Tamiko Jones record on Ric Tic.... Perhaps you're getting old Stuart! 100 lines of "Golden World is my favourite label" for you young man.... Anyway I think B&S lost it's way, lost direction, and couldn't keep up with the changing face of the music - either current dance music or "heritage soul" whatever that means. It didn't cover either properly and was in it's latter days very poor. So whilst it's sad that it's gone, that's only based on it's past glories. It was unmable to adapt to the changing market, and had become irrelevant, so I am not shedding any tears over it's demise. Harsh maybe, but I've had a very hard day today.... Steve
  5. Say Hi to Kim when you see him - and did he get the CD I did him a few months back?
  6. Late 70s he did loads of indie 7s, like Swiss Movement "I wish our love", Las VEgas Connection, Sherry Richards etc etc....basically if it came out of NO in this period, his name was probably on it....
  7. What sort of info do you want? Price? A review of his visit to the UK in the early 90s? Wasn't a copy on JM auction recently? Original is blue. He's from DC....it's a great record....anything else?
  8. I didn't actually see it, and was guessing the answer to the thread from my armchair (no books) - like Mr Manship with glass of wine in hand But thanks for clearing it up.....Steve
  9. In fact I'd go further his name is all over literally thousands of New Orleans local productions - a top man.
  10. Worth the price of the DVD alone just to hear this
  11. In the US it was something like "I second that emotion" - but of course they came out in different order here - hence I think it was a really nasty question.
  12. B side sounds fine apart from the fact that it's an awful flute player No "hiss" on either side on my copy, just a bit of dirt / dust in the groove.
  13. Bit of an anoraky question that, I'd have complained, kicked the black chair over in disgust and stopmed back to my seat - I mean of all the questions to ask on Motown they come up with some dodgy one like that - a pure guess was it "Ooh baby baby"?
  14. I got my copy from a discount bookseller in Oxford St in the 70's - 30p......there was a whole pile of them - but it's not for sale. "The Hit Men" is also a great read, although not specifically soul, all about the music business, the mafia, payola etc. Some great stuff in there, and that's where I found out the meaning of JAMF Productions on Calla releases
  15. Oh pleaze - as if I've got nothing else to do with my day Will check the B side later and let you know.
  16. Mark There are nine questions in your original post Personally I like both - love the social side at venues, but also love playing tunes at home as well. At home yesterday I played a tune three times in a row - can't really do that at a venue (though seem to recall Richard doing it once at Wigan with Phil Lowman "Rock me"). Similarly I love blasting stuff out of the speakers in the car as well....so I don't see it as an either or, but a "both". Steve
  17. Well those two share the same tune - Dave Jordan was behind them both - a legend of a producer! If you get north of the Thames Simon you might hear me play the unissued version as well
  18. Mine plays perfect
  19. Cheers John Good track - glad it's getting some action.....I love that Little Rock stuff .....Steve
  20. Barbara Lewis version is an all time classic - pride of place yellow London demo. "Sho wop de wop doo wop"
  21. Yup and there's thousands draining their credit cards to see these geeks Where did we go wrong?
  22. Would be some whip round....who'se bringing the Securicor van
  23. He must have re recorded it then because the vocals on the Tyrone Thomas seem a bit "deeper" than Little Tommy
  24. His Wand 45 and also P&L 45 "I wanna be with you" PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZ - this would tear the roof off the sucker
