  1. Ahhh the effect of the "Black Squirrel" is starting to wear off already???
  2. He does like 60s soul - so things like James Carr, Bobby Bland, O'Jays, Sam WIlliams etc.
  3. Another great version of this on Chess btw. Ferguson Davis & Lee
  4. The lead singers still got it hasn't he! Fantastic.
  5. Agreed; he's forgotten more than most of us know. And I've heard more good records in Kings Lynn, than anywhere else.
  6. But that is precisely what keeps it so interesting Macca. It would be boring if everything was catalogued / known etc. There's always something new to know and nobody knows it all, or has all the records. Regards Steve
  7. Well I do think that Randy for one would have hated being put on a pedestal like that, and I don't think Sam would be too keen on it either. Icon is such a naff term to describe blokes with records. Sorry Malc but that's how I see it. The Icons to me are the singers. If you said who has most influenced your musical tastes over the last 40 years, then fine, and on that basis I'd include Randy, Richard S, Sam, John A, Butch etc. Steve
  8. Always liked things like "What's it gonna be" Dusty Springfield, and Mickey Moonshine - still do in fact- and have had soft spots for Paula Parfitt, and Sue Lynne There! bet that's shocked a few of ya's!
  9. Yes Richard played "Heaven must be missing an angel" and "It only takes a minute" as new releases at the Casino. I got a vid of them singing "Minute" from Top of the Pops I think- pretty good, I always liked it as a tune. Of course we musn't forget their contributions as Chubby & The Turnpikes either I also like one of the Victor Tavares solo sides - an early modern spin....Steve
  10. Yes and I can't help I am afraid.
  11. 2006 is the missing number
  12. It's a great record though
  13. Sometimes I would actually - knowledgable but like everyone he doesn't know everything
  14. Don't think it's worn out at all, though I prefer the B side these days
  15. Yeah but I am not a 100% oldies fan Simon. So it's ok.
  16. Yeah but a great record Actually the B side ain't too shabby either
  17. Much earthier mix Jordi - sorry can't do soundclips, but can put it on a cdr for u. May pop in tomorrow at Monumental. as I might be passing through town from the south quite late on my way home....
  18. Will play it for u at the next Letchworth
  19. Good point, but always felt you need to balance competing interests, rather than just go off on a tangent for an hour.
  20. I think the group interplay is excellent, and the rolling tempo - almost a fore runner to "garrige"
  21. Occasional plays really - been more of a funk record than a northern one. We've all dabbled with it from time to time...Steve
  22. Cos it's 'ard enough lugging the rekkids about
  23. Remember there are two different mixes - the one you need is the purple one. Steve
  24. If you play it at +8 on your turntable it sounds like Angela Davis
  25. Must admit I like the sweet soul B side
