  1. that'll be me then
  2. That's the other one - he's an imposter
  3. Actually, and for the record, I was only joking! I am always very polite.....even Bearsy knows that from when he requested I spin "footsee".
  4. Memorable all nighters at Rebels (I came up from the south) with Richard, Sam, Arthur, Mannion etc. Gary Rushbrooke was the "token" 60s DJ - on about 7 am as I recall.
  5. Aye
  6. Of course I don't......I thought it might have been me slagging off Burning Bush, but when he said in reference to the DJ concerned Yorkshire, Scotland and Hip Teens I knew it wasn't me....Steve
  7. Phew! Thought it might have been me for a minute there
  8. Great thanks...Steve
  9. Nope - yesterday's news - let's move on.
  10. Detroit 73. When do I have the time to go on ebay? I am working hard for a living. Perhaps I should get an ebay sitter who can look out for things for me
  11. I'd go back home unless I could carry them on. 100 box of 45s with paper covers does the trick
  12. Yr link is not responding Jed
  13. Yeah Godin deffo signed off that way - will have to check the original origin though. I had a record called "Keep the faith" once - it was a garage type thingy mid 60s.
  14. Still after a clean copy of this. My copy is virtually unplayable.
  15. Keep the faith goes back before the 60s Gash - but then again so does the scene these days
  16. Yes this is the one I got originally when "duped" as a 16 year old by one of the older Wigan / Wheel faithful on my first or second visit. I paid £2 for it I think and was told it was an original. Same thing happened with another "record bar box seller" and Sam & Kitty Anyway these toss pots did do me one favour, taught me that older guys with record boxes may well not be telling the truth .
  17. Max was at the last Irish Centre- still looks the same still drinks the same Re Cheryl Berdell - not sure if I have said this before, but I tracked her down in the 80s - lovely lady who'd just got divorced from her husband who'd put the record out. She in turn put me in touch with Tom Tom. He said he was over in London recording Phil Collins and would I like to come down and join the party. Phil Collins I thought? Is the man on drugs or something? Anyway soon after "You can't hurry love" rushed up the pop charts arranged by.....Tom Tom no less. So he wasn't making it up after all.
  18. Steve that's nearly 30 years ago
  19. That's an interesting point Dave
  20. The point is that most modern rooms at northern do's aren't really modern rooms - they're to all intents and purposes 70s rooms. These can be popular but you have got to have the right DJs, promotion and sounds. It worked at The Plinston in The Ghetto for example. Too many of these so called modern rooms attached to northern rooms are staffed by "carpetbaggers" - northern soul jocks with a few overplayed 70s anthems that they've won on John M's auction and who are doubling up and moonlighting between sets in the northern room. This might keep the promotors costs down, but it doesn't help make for an attarctive night for people who'd potentially go to these venues. Not many DJs can play good 60s sets and good 70s sets. Too often the so called "modern room" northern DJ is just playing the same old same old. And that ain't really modern No wonder people don't bother!
  21. Why has PhilD gone all quiet on you then?
  22. Tosh man- more 60s than that. Flanny did an hour of them and I played at least 3
  23. Oh fun times. Point is at the time those records were modern (i.e. les than 5 years old). They were even controversial then
  24. I'd say £100-£150 probably
  25. Hiya Gavin - hope you are well.
