  1. feckin 'ell Phil - you do a big drama queen exit...."PhilD has left the building" routine (which I see you have now toned down), and you have already been back on here since twice in the first 24 hours. Stop being such a big girls blouse, you can still post about UK Motown LPs can't you? And chip in when people have a pop at Ian Levine's "productions"?
  2. Now that is funny on one level. On another though it just goes to show how far Record Collecta has sunk, and why I no longer bother buying it. It's doomed to go the same way as Blues and Soul unless they pull their pants up and start reporting properly. Still it gave me a larf I spose.
  3. Didnt Expansion\put it out on a 12?
  4. Richard Lackey on Solid Foundation.
  5. Just as bad at a northern gig - no dancefloor So you have to dance on carpets
  6. ok - he might be on holiday or busy working for a change
  7. Why don'y you PM him Jon?
  8. Have seen some over the years...Wigan being attacked by the 50 or so divs, and us all agreeing we'd hold our ground as they charged towards us, only to turn round and find there's only four of us left Southgate yup, Stoke a few years ago someone got knifed didn't they? - blood on the dancefloor as I remember. We've had a few "evictions", and at one local event one of the fat boys had too much to drink and started mouthing off.......but that's it......thankfully our soul events are actually fairly safe places to go - apart from the apparant Hep C risk I guess
  9. And so did "The Lurch", it's even on a Kent Cd One of the scene's madder moments....Steve
  10. Was the bar closing at the time?
  11. None at the venues I go to. No fighting at all....where is this happening? Steve
  12. My best was the one I wrote about In Manifesto a few years ago (and it also featured in the book "Too darn soulful"). Basically some guy was trying to sell 500 records in a box to a store, and they didn't want them. Eventually did a deal with him on the street, and the 500 included Ty Karim (Caramel), Virginia Blakely and Betty Willis on MoJo, Sandi Shelton, Johnny Robinson on O'Keh, Prince Phillip Mitchell, and some others as well. Paid $150 ish for the 500.....Reeeeeesult!
  13. Not northern, but popped into the local Chinese down the Old Pond the other night for a takeaway, and whilst I was waiting for my Capital Spare Ribs on comes Millie Jackson "If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right" -
  14. Thought he looked like them old McDougall's flour shakers meself.
  15. Boba this would be logical as Scream records was from the South.
  16. It's not Jackie Moore. Sorry.
  17. Hey Senorita - Tokays
  18. Ah over zeleous "Self policing" then - I think I understand now
  19. sorry Phil who said don't play it - maybe they've edited their post cos I can't find it?
  20. Sorry think you are confusing me with the Soul police m8. No one suggested you couldn't play it, then from out of nowehere PhilD goes into his usual rant about "soul police gone mad" etc etc.....perhaps he's had his collar felt by these types once too often and now sees them everywhere. We've all been saying play it - so don't let Phil's paranoia about phantom "soul police" change that. As for Levine's stuff, I think the Soul Poilice have made their views quite clear on that, so let's not go down that route again
  21. I am not biting..... Cya l8r.
  22. I have just been contacted by someone who has an inside connection to the "Soul police" . He has informed me that I can inform you that it WOULD be acceptable to play this out......So fear not, the soul police will not come knocking! Steve
  23. yup boot
  24. hi Tierry how are you - long time to speak! Did you get this sorted out - what was the outcome?
