  1. Ha isn't that JUST what we thought all along. Inconceivable that the good stuff would still be in there.
  2. Thanks Mark. Yup the LR Superstars is a forgotten gem.....just right for radio
  3. Somebody somewhere needs you and Go for yourself Larry Laster, seem to recall they probably have the same backing track, though I'd need to check that one....as my mind might be playing tricks. Believe Eddie Ray might be Eddie Horan
  4. Pretty certain this didn't get released, I consider to have a complete run of orange and blue Volt releases (all of 'em) and I don't have this one. If ir did come out it must be bloomin' rare and that's unlikely with a label like Volt which pressed in large quantities. STEVE
  5. I have both and as Andy D played Eddie Ray, I played ZZ Hill at Lifeline but was told it was "boring" by someone
  6. And I'd say not to be missed for the 2nd and 3rd hour either - I'll be playing 70s and 80s things.....and possibly some slow stuff.
  7. Won for $3,002,150 Contrast this to the starting price of $3m and the sellers info "$3million is a ridiculously low price to start with. The owner of the collection has turned down offers for far more over the years, including an offer of $28million nine years ago".
  8. Can u snipe that amount? Imagine trying with 5 secs to go and then getting a "warning" back saying "Sorry youre snipe exceeds the maximum allowable"......
  9. Ho ho ho.
  10. Yes especially as I don't have the money anyway
  11. Happy birthday you lot
  12. Yup Poop is still out in front, but I nearly pressed the bid button by mistake That would just about ruin my day!!!
  13. Well you could do that, if you believed you could actually sell most of them.....
  14. Agree great stuff. Dave also add J Kelly & Premiers to the Wand list everyone misses that one....Steve
  15. A lot of prolific stuff - Pi Kappa was one of his labels - had Storm and stuff like dat. He did loads of sweet soul productions too - mostly top drawer stuff.....Paul's is the sort of name when you see it on a record you don't know, you immediately pull out for listening.
  16. NO the last thing you should do. Remember old James Hamilton's collection - pantechnicans of the stuff.......we all walked away with boxes full of relative bargains (500 import singles for £30, crate of 12s for £15 etc. ) and the poor widow ended up with just a few thousand. There was a big quantity there too, but not much duplicates. Realistically most of this stuff in PA is UNSELLABLE. Great if you have the ego the size of a warehouse and want to be known as someone who has a history of US recorded music bla de bla and appear on local TV stations. Also great if you have nothing better to do with the rest of your life except try and work out what's there and what's rare. Otherwise
  17. Something stupid like 17.5% VAT on what you paid + 10% import duty about 750k
  18. That's what I meant to say Alessi......
  19. Yeah but not one of the rarer ones......it's one you couldn't give away
  20. Simon I thought he was the same Willie Collins who later recorded for Capitol in the 80s? An ex postie..... Certainly didn't think he was of Italian extraction. Where does that come from? the APo stuff is mainly ballads, but I'll have to dig them out now to check. Seem to recall a duet featuring Will & Beverley but now maybe MY memory is playing tricks. I will check my Bearback collection too, think I've got a few others - anyway we did a label listing in Blackbeat so there must have been more than we've listed so far. Will Collins also recorded on Mercury, OK uptempo but nowhere near as good as "Anything I can do". "Don't fight the feling" it was called. Got it for 10p when Black Wax iN Streatham was closing it's doors. Found two copies of "AICD" in Mile End for 10p each in about 84, traded the spare to Clarkie for Maurice Jackson on Parall Ho hum....
  21. Yes avoid Derek - soft rock. in fact aren't they the Adressi Brothers anyway? I do like "I can see him" btw even though the vocals are a bit wishy washy.
  22. OMG some people have now bid on it
  23. But it's not just the soul scene that suffers from this Sean. It strikes me that the vast majority of civilians are stuck with their treasured oldies too - be that Cliff Richard, Take That, The Eagles, Status Quo, the Beatles I find very few people of my age in the civilian community (and obviously a bit younger than you : ) who are interested in anything new musically.....a few wannabee "trendy" Dad's trying to relate to their teenagers maybe.....but that's about it. I think we got to accept that hearing NEW music is a minority pastime, both amongst the general populus - the civvies - and also amongst the soulheads.....Steve
  24. Tony get with it man, you're supposed to finish the post with "But what do i know"
  25. You guys are all sensible so no need for the public back slapping and self flagulation fellas but what do I know?
