I agree deffo a different mix. Strings more prominent on RCA as you say and the F&E local release is more beefier sounding. + The vocals. To the untrained ear not paying attention in a club it might not sound that different, but it most definately is. SImon can't tell the difference? That means one of two things 1) bad sound system 2) yer ears need a wash out Steve -

By the way I never understood "Mr M's" either - thought it was for the older guys who couldn't keep up with post "Twisted Wheel" developments on the soul scene and who were quite happy to spend the rest of their lives buzzing round to the "Good time tonight" and "Dust my broom". My moments in there were brief, thankfully. Now I understand it was just another way of getting another 250 through the doors of W*** C****.

Believe he plays it from the beginning when correct play (for the northern scene) is from the first instrumental breakdown. record should be faded out after about 4.30. My copy of Benny Sigler on Phil La has "A Fenn" in the run out groove. My copy of Billy Prophet oN Sue has "Steve Snook" in the deadwax I know who A Fenn is ,but S Snook? Who he?

John Anderson knows him, and he confirmed it's his son. John told me this when he sold me the Ralph Jackson on the Rajac label.....and I remember saying at the time "oh I got one by Jr Jacksonon the same label"....."Yeah that's his son" came the reply.

Mark, you mean Ian Faulkner. Sam put him onto soul when he was in his class at school (true). We were talking about him a few months ago - told me he is still around in the Horseman's Green area around Bangor / Wrexham, but is no longer "active", preferring civilian duties such as mowing the lawn and painting the gate, to record hunting these days.

A lot of them do go round and round - Sam's told me that he has had at least 4 Del Larks over the years. Buys one, sells it, buys another one for more, sells it for even more etc etc. Record inflation..... Records that come here though, stay here! I only ever sold one record and got £1 less for it than I wanted (£4 instead of £5) (this was at Wigan); the experience kind of put me of selling for ever. So ever since I've only ever bought records and leave the selling to others.

No it's his son. Ralph Soul jackson on Rajac also an old Plinston spin for me. I always thought it had legs but it never really took off with the dancers.

One here too - minter ....will have a look in my collection and see what I can dig up. J Kelly was the obvious missing one that I can remember - it was mis pressed on Wand with a Roadshow release number, but has a proper Wand speckled logo label. Just Bros and Honey Bees are still an urban myth - release numbers but don't know of anyone who'se even seen a copy. Humphrey stomp however the other Garrison 45 with a Wand release number does exist . Steve

Yup have to agree...they were pretty good later in the 70s as well as Love Committee - .I can see a new thread coming on - artists who never bad a bad record / labels will all good records

So Corrie is the root of all evil? Have to say thought round here all DJs played OVO. Had a shock recently when I saw local man playing carvers of released stuff. I was going to complain to the promotor, but then remembered he was the one that booked said DJ in the first place. Still too many venues and DJs....and an ageing population.
