  1. Have edited post and deleted offending word "if"
  2. Yeah but as described I can imaging how annoying this must have been if trying to film. There are some right dummies about. Had one at a venue once who insisted I wasn't "a proper DJ" because I hadn't put Barbara McNair in my 200 box for the night - like it is some type of "must play". When he kept going on I could have decked him quite easily Instead just told him he was a merchant banker.
  3. Not trying to choke you....perish the thought. Just different views of NS - doesn't make me "narrow minded" or an "anorak" either.
  4. ...we have different views on this. It's allowed.
  5. ...and I repeat again if I want to see a Picasso exhibition, I don't want to see Fred Trendy from Islington's interpretation of a Picasso. If I want to buy some art deco, I look for a 1920s piece, not something that looks like art deco, but which is made in China in 2008. I think you just have to accept that not every one views your new product as "northern soul". In the same way as many of us also don't see Rock and roll as northern soul. Please just accept that.
  6. All of the lists originated from Stak O wax. I know that because all the other lists have the same mistakes / typos etc in them.
  7. Yes - other side not bad either. It's still to have it's day as I haven't played it out much yet.
  8. There are a nuimber which were given release numbers, but which as far as we can tell never came out. It's always possible that they got pressed and destroyed, but no one has ever seen copies. Ernie Hines, Honey Bees and Just Brothers are three examples. Then there's the odd one which isn't in the official discographies, but which did sneak out like J Kelly & Premiers.
  9. I have never seen it, and believe it doesn't exist (in all probability)
  10. I have an article somewhere on her - shopping inChicago, in the studio, having her hair done etc. It was in Black Film & music Stars or something. I will try and find it.
  11. I got that copy when I bought some of your records . It's called "restless".
  12. No 7 is of course Walter`Wilson. When the tapes were discovered that's the name they had on it. It wasn't til later that the record turned up they found that the tapes had the wrong name on. A piece of trivia.
  13. Probably the hardest one on Wand. Only aware of 3 copies - great double sider though.
  14. Ha ha - you sold yours then? A couple of others to add: 4 Dynamics "Things that a lady ain't supposed to do" Eddie Billups "Ask my heart"
  15. Always thought friday Night was a pretty dirty northern record
  16. Chrissie don't argue with Ian on Motown. It's his specialist subject
  17. No Reg lots of stuff was too slow to play back in the day and other struff wasn't played until post 85. some may have been known by collectors etc.

  21. Sorry guys I am still catching up on eight pages....
  22. Is she the person who was at the Rocket and asking a £1 for A5 copies of pictures of Sandi Sheldon? If so I thought she was very odd too.
  23. I am pretty sure `Searling played this at `Wigan 1980.
  24. Nobody dances to this anymore. I've tried to revive it recently It is good though.
  25. A few more obscure 60s off the top of me head which I don't see mentioned: Richard Marks did you ever lose something Tim & Dave Girl you're just so good to me Homer Banks Sweetie Pie Traditions / Parisiens Georgettes Hard hard Willie Feaster (Voices) Walter Wilson "Love keeps me crying" The slow version of Natural Four (ha ha!!!) too slow pre 85 Young ladies on Stang Tokays "Baby baby baby" Royal Robins "Something about you" Chico Lamarr From the 70s how could you forget Natural Impulse, the dreaded Papa Bear & Cubs which I am sure some people will say is good, and Willie dee "Looks like rain" - only now starting to get the credit it deserves Steve
