  1. It was to be a TV series, though not sure if it actually came out.
  2. Now you are trying to be too clever Paul , I will need to check my copy but think it does play at 45 even if it's on a 12" The better question to ask is was this actually "issued" on vinyl? Or was it promo only
  3. Yeah but they f*cked them up - horrible stereo tracking on them. They always sounded awful on a home stereo

  5. So has the scent gone cold then? Sam reckoned at the time that he was sacked for playing totally 70s and his letter to Black Echoes (as yet unre-printed). He would of course know as presumably he'd have been called in to an office at the Casino to see Russ for a "chat" and to have the reasoning explained. Sounds like the banner and the petitions are red herrings, though they may have added fuel to the fire.
  6. Oh yea - I am getting as forgetful as Ian D
  7. Sean says it was played at wigan 73/74. Cracking piece of Motown too.
  8. Ha ha. We've cleared a lot of stuff up on this, LP tracks, CDs / MP3s for modern soul, UK issues, previously unissued stuff, legitimate reissues...................but one thing still sticks - BOOTLEGS ARE FOR CISSYS* *apart from sean who collects them
  9. No check shirts either please Terry
  10. Mee too. When was it covered Sean?
  11. Nick that wasn't the approach you had at Yate was it????? Don't remember any DJs playing bootlegs there. Please spare us the "soul knobs" stuff to describe people who have higher standards than you obviously do. Advocating not playing bootlegs in your world is a "pathetic attitude" is it now? Wow!!!! - perhaps you need to catch up a bit after your 20 years off of the scene fella.
  12. Art Posey on Kent 12" Sam dees "Run to me" (as above) Sy Hightower
  13. Thanks at least I now know my memory isn't as bad as Ian D's
  14. When did modern soul start getting played? Probably 1991. When did new releases stop getting played on the northern scene? Probably about 1985. There are six missing years
  15. There are only a few sources and they know who they are .One day might go up to a bootleg seller and tip his boots on the floor. When he says "Oi that's my property you maniac", I'll go "No it ain't, they're bootlegs".
  16. Didn't it come out on a MFP (Music for Pleasure) 99p LP first, or is my mind playing tricks?
  17. Is it being repeated anywhere? Still at work at that time.
  18. Well...except the DJs aren't forced to play bootlegs Phil. They've always been around and many good DJs haven't found it "neccesary" to programme them in their sets. DJ integrity comes into the equation too. On that point a lot of OV DJ's that I know on here are keeping the heads beneath the parapet and not contributing.
  19. Some of the big name rarities go for 10 years.
  20. SCARBOROUGH (as in "Make love to you")
  21. Leon WARE
  22. Percy STONE
  23. NORWOOD Long
  24. Carl DOUGLAS
