  1. Hmmmm . . . .Before my time I am afraid. I was but an empty space on the Wigan dancefloor

    Wanted

Good luck with this Danny. It has cleared the floor for me, but a good tune nonetheless
  3. I doubt that is correct as Lester died in the early 80s after the record had been released and Grapevine had finished. I have spoken to a number of former singers who have been told they have had No 1's in England, and also been approached by people in the music business wanting to record them. It could have been anyone. I must admit I wasn't aware that Lester had made any other records apart from "This won't change"
  4. Blackbeat magazine. Ian Clark covered the story and got the info from Tom dePierro. There was also a reprint of the funeral service and I believe a picture of Lester in his mortar board hat presumably on college graduation or something.
  5. Ahhh a dodgy boot thing then? Remember Andy OVO.
  6. Moses Smith unissued?
  7. ha ha and hi Tony - hope you are well. Lots of history being re-written then? See the same thing on the rare soul scene all the time....Steve
  8. I look forward to seeing the finished film with interest - if it ever gets finished. PW as a record shop owner - fine no issue with that. I'll give my views on the film once I've seen it.
  9. Funnily enough prices often tend to go up on stuff that has been reissued. Don't ask me why - counter cyclical forces at work.
  10. Flanny - as I said to you at Prestatyn - DON'T SELL IT. You WILL regret it amd certainly if you are thinking of going for JD Bryant . Mines pretty minty too m8.
  11. Ahhh it's you!!! - Hiya Tony
  12. Expand please. . . .not sure I am following you. UR upset because we are not talking about 2008 releases like Marc Evans - (an awesome 12" btw)? Or not talking about southern soul indie CD tracks? Or new Maysa type things?
  13. This problem has been going on for ages and has been on here before. I assume the bidder from France that bought your big money record last night has now paid?
  14. There is enough decent stuff on Abbott to fill a CD - where is Ady C or Trouncey whn you need them? I am sure they could deliver the goods
  15. Cor blimey Paul - exactly the same feeling with 70/80s soul. Know plenty who up until 3 years ago sat round at gigs "tutting" and "scoffing" when played, who now ask me if I have any for sale or "want to let go" of any. Guess that's all part of life's rich tapestry.
  16. What Baz other stuff on Abbott or by Charles Mintz? Both have sizeable repetiores.
  17. Yes and I remember Tont Hayzer doing what he called a "Soulful house" show when he followed me on Soul 24-7 Friday nights. That was a few years ago now. If only I didn't have to get the bus back to Liverpool St, to get me last train home, I could have listened more
  18. Also booted on a very good looky likey Bee Bee back in the 70s
  19. Played Gwen & Ray at a gig last year - it virtually cleared the floor
  20. Thanks jocko. That would be great. Mixing lessons moi? Nah? Only thing I can mix is milk in me tea.
  21. Cheeky son of a gun - you obviously didn't hear about my Prestatyn set then? Started off with Marc Evans, remix of Bennson etc etc - all good stuff and I do keep up to date with a lot of "soulful house". Michael Proctor just so overplayed - the "Frank Wilson" of the soulful house scene?
  22. They sold really badly and are in the scheme of things quite rare compared to some of the tosh that gets trotted out every week in the name of rarity. They are excellent albums and I am grateful for the Wood Green store of Our Price for overstocking on them back in the late 80s - meaning I could get them all.
  23. Oh yes good shout I forgot about that one.
  24. I would add "Angel" to that list. Tis one of my favourites by her. And I also have a soft spot for "Jimmy Lee" and Whos'e Z who" from the 80s. - but agree that's about it.
