  1. Always popular on the dancefloor that one. gOOD luck a great dancer.
  2. Northern softees eh Gav?
  3. Hi ya Sean. It is an aquired taste, and it will grow on you - it has a certain charm even if he is a bit off key. Works a treat in Europe too.
  4. £20-£30 but make sure you get the right mix.
  5. Yeah but every youth club had a northern soul element that emerged from the shadows when a DJ spun some northern - I am counting these in my guestimate Terry. Not just your died in the wool nighter guys.
  6. Hmm depends what time I guess. When NS was in the Sun etc and Footsee was in the charts, probably 10-15,000. But that's a wild guess.
  7. Well it really depends Bearsy, be as brave as you can, but don't clear the floor for an hour. It also depends on the time you are on. Peak time then I think you have got to make a mark with the dancing crowd without having to resort to things like Mel Britt. Early doors you can be more adventurous. If DJing at a venue you haven't been to before, take a broader selection of sounds.
  8. Poor old Flanny- he always sells his good records......
  9. Iam trying to remember where I got mine from Might have been Butch
  10. The local HMV did not have it in, and having to fill in what seemed like an "immigration into the UK form" to get them to order one - I went the Amazon route. Should have it tomorow.
  11. Best wishes for Sam
  12. A very nice record.
  13. No it's not one of them. It's a legit Frankford Wayne pressed 45 from 1976/77. It's also a totally different mix with more prominet guitars, and a few seconds longer Same both sides. Steve
  14. It's another copy Gavin I think. Think there are two and maybe a third one.
  15. It's extremely rare. I have one, but it's one that is difficult to price as mainly only Tate afficionados and vinyl maniacs that would shell out for a copy. In todays world it might not fetch that much. Different mix too remember Chalky.
  16. Very true. "Trophy records"
  17. You started early this evening fella? Yeah Burnley - not over me head, but over my mileage allowance : - especially on a Friday - I like my 70s too as you know.
  18. Yep what I am saying Joan is for a 2 h set a DJ would need to play a variety of sound styles - not just one type of music, so some 70s as well as 60s. Agree if it's a single style some people would be turned off (like me and R&B ) and mix of tempos too - and old and new - I know it's all uptempo at the moment, but mix it up a bit that's all. Otherwise 1 hour tops.
  19. It does get me moving Beeks - towards the exit.
  20. Sorry to hear this.
  21. Hav just read a report that predicts it'll be 1.20 by the spring......I bl**dy hope not...
  22. Yes Pye DD was a legit reissue for the northern market.
  23. The best music
  24. I'd say DJs that can play a variety of styles I'd say 90 mins sets, poss 2 hours at a niter would seem sensible. DJs that can only play one style - 30 minutes tops. Soul nights - 45-60 minutes - again depending on the variety of style of sounds that a DJ can spin. I mean personally if it was an R&B DJ I'd be bored after 5 minutes Also many soul nights have a limited time when they are really "active" and buzzing (3 hours) and thus mixing it up a bit more makes it more interesting. All in my humble opinion of course.
  25. Very simple - investors think that the UK (and Europe to a degree) will be in a deeper and longer recession than the USA. Therefore they are transferring their assets into dollars (and selling £) creating a demand for $, which pushes up the value of the dollar. As I said the other day it's predicted to be down at 1.55 - 1.50 before long.
