Current Bootleg Trading (split from Soul Pack thread)

Giving records away is still distribution in the eyes of the law, and these records were not authorised copies. The only difference was that it was small scale. I was offered some of the boots for free from the bloke who showed them to me (Hertsofsoul) when I told him they were not real records. Did I want them? No, and hertsofsoul and hammer soul can both confirm that. If this was about people being nasty, someone would have called trading standards and you know what they can be like. All this was ever about was finding out what records had been pressed, so collectors weren't duped (which has happened plural). So no need for pulling out the tired old boring as hell "victim" card. -
It's a rum business these days isn't it Ivor. I feel so sorry for the younger collectors getting ripped off with this crap by scum.

Stax on Mastermind BBC2 Friday 5th Feb 8pm

There was also a celeb on a few weeks ago answering questions on Aretha Franklin. The questions were awful, really obscure and mostly about her early career. She got 5 points, I think I got 5 points f.f.s. It comes down to the researcher (and what is on the internet) who is unlikely to be a fan or on our wavelength. -
Innersection another boot.

I agree just checked my copy. Nasty.

Bob Sinclair is a low though I do agree. Had to endure an extra long version at one do, pain!

Has always been that way though. I remember a lawyer at work who told me he used to be into northern in the early 70s, has a loft full of records etc. I said what is your favourite? And he said "The Boys in the Band" on Spring.

Indeed. The paint brush effect again. I wonder…..with the right contact, I bet you could get some of these done in the UK somewhere or Europe, with a bit of "cash under the table" / after hours. There seems to be a lot of these swirl boots appearing now. -

Never seen it before Pete, who is this one from? -
A familiar story. (sighs)

Gary DEFINITELY did Rebels. I remember it he was on quite late and I remembered thinking at the time that he didn't sit too well with the other DJs on the line up. It was like a modern nighter with an hour of 60s thrown in towards the end.

You are far too modest Phil. You have some great tunes.

Current Bootleg Trading (split from Soul Pack thread)

I suppose really because these were good looking, amongst the best I have ever seen. Everyone knows what they are getting with a crudely stuck on label from Nottingham or wherever, but the ones I saw in this batch (Rita Graham, Magnetics, JWR and Greater Experience) actually looked pretty close to the originals. Yes of course a serious collector can tell up close, and we know B Woods and Sam Williams were all styrene on OV and so easy to tell. So immediately collectors are going to ask how many more are there?, where did they come from?, is this the tip of the iceberg?, is my copy I got last month original? etc. etc. -
I wouldn't be too upset at being on top of his hate list. I am not and understand we are just the latest in a very long list of people over the last 40+ years. My sin was identifying the Rita Graham as a pressing. I didn't even mention his name. Then Ted says there is a moody Magnetics which I confirmed I too had seen, and boom I am suddenly the "head of the soul police" and now "pursuing a personal vendetta". Utter cobblers. And all because we were trying to get to the bottom of these 20 titles and whether they'd been sold. I really don't know what you can do about your records - if you really don't want some of them take them down the skip. I did this recently with some records I didn't want, and the guys at the dump were all over me like a rash. It made their afternoon to get a big box of old 7s to look through! As someone else said chalk it up to experience.

Thanks as i am mentioned I better post my reply again. Just to put the record straight, I have NOT been pursuing a personal vendetta against Ian Levine. He was friends with me on FB until this year when he blocked me, Ive bought records from him in the past (none of these), we've exchanged emails periodically etc. and I am still happy to talk to him, even if he now thinks I am the head of the soul police (I did chuckle at that). But I HAVE been trying to get to the bottom of these mysterious records ever since the moody Rita Graham pitched up late last year with a friend of a friend. As for being haunted, oh God, please Nooooooo!!! Don't do it Ian -
Are you confident it's an original or a modern look-a-like
Steve G replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
A Superlatives on Music Stack is not original but being sold as same.
