Where Have All The Modern Rooms Gone?
But you are such a minority Theresa. you have to admit modern rooms do 'clear out' early and why wouldn't they, as they don;'t have the same all nighter legacy thing that northern soul has.

Where Have All The Modern Rooms Gone?
Err, I do all of those. Plus crossover, and can turn in a mean two step / deep set as well. But I'm not a "trendy" name.

Likewise Dave. Unfortunately we appear to be a recognised "minority".- Where Have All The Modern Rooms Gone?
Agree. True modern and northern are not natural bedfellows really either.- Valuing A Record Collection
No shortcuts stop trying to be lazy . Depends what you've bought. For northern / xover/ 70s - half book price. Deep funk - 20% of book price For 12s - zero unless known collectibles. Use for starting a bonfire. CD's £1 each cos that's all you'll get.- Bobby Thurston -Dead Or Alive ?
Thanks for posting that Rob, but hey another review that misses out his Avco 45 and his first LP. What's with these internet turnips that can't get their facts right.? Fookin ameteurs.- Robbie Lawson Re-Press
You didn't buy it from Paul Kyser did you?- Robbie Lawson Re-Press
Moral to the story is simple, don't deal with Paul Kyser. Even the "ageing process" on this - tea stains and hoover dust isn't that good. Next he'll be telling you he has some great unissued stuff and you'll all be chasing his tail again.....- Robbie Lawson Re-Press
You sir, are beginning to sound like what we in the UK refer to as a "Merchant Banker" This is what you said this morning: "Paul got a few from his ex-wife last year. He and I had hatched a plan (that worked!) to get them from her. They are real, but all this doubt to their authenticity was all too much headache for him or I to deal with. Paul is not a poor or desperate man, and I really don't see him A) needing to pass off fake represses as real for money B) Doing such a good job if he did (!) C) making 8 copies. There has been no flood of these (pictured) copies around to suggest otherwise. " Now you're saying "Hey don't have a go at me, blame Paul" when you've been on here bleating about "plans" and the records being "real" etc. when clearly they are not! Wise up fella.- Robbie Lawson Re-Press
Oh right, We're not stupid over here mate. Press 300 copies - cost $600. Trash 290, sell 10 at £700 = £7,000. R-E-S-U-L-T.- Robbie Lawson Re-Press
Has it been confirmed that PK did these? If so, well it looks like he nearly got away with it doesn't it. I spose for these fellas they are bombarded with desperate Brits waving their cheque books, and it's their chance to make a fast buck. Of course it's totally immoral, but I guess that's why they do it. One of the biggest mistakes we make is because we're by and large a friendly bunch, we assume that everyone involved with the original music are good people. They ain't. Half of them are husslers, and never paid the fooking singers, session musicians, record co's etc. For every nice guy, there's a dodgy one out there. Once again "buyer beware" etc. Know your subject. Years ago he was interviewed by Tim A in a mag (Rare Soul Review) and he said he didn't have any copies. So how is he suddenly going to magically find more copies years later? In his attic? - give me a break! This crap has been going on for years - Johnny Watson back in the 90s etc. passed off as an original until Tim A saw it, and blew the lid off the fraud. It ain't new. and it;ll happen again. Anyway hope those that were done get their money back. But I doubt it. Someone's probably driving round in a new car by now.....- Well Respected Records Dealers?
That's my point, a fool and his money etc. Any other collectible, you'd be very careful I'd have thought. If you went to an antiques fair and someone said "It's an original Clarice Cliff Steele Teapot £700 to you Guv, but as your Missus is so good looking £675 to you, can't say fairer than that" you'd want to check the authenticity of the item, so why is record buying any different? Three examples now of Craig getting it wrong, so he needs to "tighten the drum up" on his operation. Being big is no ecxuse for a string of errors. Steve- Well Respected Records Dealers?
Is he still bumping out all those cheap copies of "Teacherman" he got from Soul Bowl for lots of money ?- Billy Garner - Little School Girl On Mojo
WARNING "DODGY LYRICS" ALERT- Well Respected Records Dealers?
Just read the other thread. CM does seem to be being a bit careless -with WOmbat and Buster & Eddie,,,,,,,Anyway would have thought before anyone parts with $200 for a record they look to check if its an orig / 1st issue etc. So can see both sides of the argument,- Well Respected Records Dealers?
Of course. Why? You been had by someone?- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
Yes by that was a straight cover version at the time - think it's on Ebony - got one somewhere Terry - fear not, I never put the pop in the playbox It stays at home.....- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
As I say Mark a very good record. Just wouldn't play it out. Same as Kiki Dee, Paula Parfitt, Sue Lynn etc, I like all of them, and have copies in my collection.- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
no some Destiny;s were originals like John Leach, Delites etc.- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
Hmmmm I am sure I read it in RC when they interviewed him recently, if I got it wrong sorry.- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
that's the original- Helen Shapiro - Stop And You'll Become Aware - Columbia
Wouldn't be seen dead with it in my playbox. But it's a great pop record and I have a copy. - Where Have All The Modern Rooms Gone?
