  1. Yes as far as I know. First became aware of it via Soul Sam playing it either off of an acetate or a white label in the mid 90s....
  2. Always loved this side since hearing Joey's version of it in the mid 90s. Great stuff and still to this day on my "wants list"
  3. That's my understanding too Paul
  4. Yes that is also how I remember him as well. He did Ms a bit too as I recall. PS: No one should ever underestimate the impact that "Jason King" has on early 70s fashion - as the before and after shots of Mike above clearly show. And that is a serious comment.....despite the smiley
  5. Another excellent read Dave.
  6. Yes I have heard the sound clip. Clearly to me a blue eyed singer with a moody r&B style backing.
  7. Good for you Dave. Must admit "Bargains" and "Rosen" are not normally words I normally see in the same sentance First time I went there he rang the UK's most prominent rare soul DJ to make sure I was "Kosher" Only after the all clear was I allowed relatively free reign. All these stories are hilarious. I mean we are talking about records, there are loads of frigging records. Records come, records go. There are still always more records. The way some people behave you'd think the ones they had were the only records left in the world......
  8. Sorry to hear that
  9. Yeah I am now geting confused (not difficult ). I have the Delite and Red Coach 45s but not "Stepping closer" on Dart. So just to be clear then the Red Coach 45 came out with two flips? Also I'd put "I saw you there" around 67 not 1970, if you look at other releases around the same time such as Johnny Devighn etc. Steve
  10. He does say in the small print it's a reissue. Are people not reading or don't they care?

Much as I love it SouL Essence isn't really a rare soul weekender in the true northern sense of the word. It plays across the board, modern and deep as well as 60s and 70s and 80s and 90s and Y2K. And whilst some of the DJs do play rare soul, the weekend isn't built on that basis.

Sam actually picked his copy up at the weekend from someone on here, in trades.

I'd love to see another Lifeline weekender. I thought they were excellent.

  16. Ian Clark sold one to Japan a year or two back. There was a thread on it somewhere - probably a limited run press by Ernest kelly. Re Humphrey Stomp, just to protect the innocent it was Dave Withers who said he tried to sell it to me not Dave Rivers.....

  19. Humphrey Stomp apparantly does exist on Wand although I don't have it. Dave Rivers swears blind he offered it for sale to me and I declined. I must have been very very drunk or something
  20. Keith think Connie Laverne may actually exist on an issue. I seem to remember hearing that Andy Davies may have had it?
  21. Excellent stuff. Played "A+" on Solar the other week. See y'awll at Prestatyn.....

  23. A few old favourites...... "Tear stained face" Veep Honey Bees and Just Brothers Wand
  24. I have it. Got it for £20 which seemed an incredible bargain. Has a Wand label, but a Roadshow matrix.....so obviously a last minute change. Steve
  25. It's clearly not a soul record, so I would not have any idea of it's rarity or otherwise. Steve
