  1. Thought Mel Britt was lead on The Mist?
  2. Hey Jocko, you must have had a fabulous holiday in Italia to come back so calm and relaxed....... Have you seen the film yet? Can we please see your review of it? T Rex / Quo / Queen/ Abba tributes etc very big down here btw. And footie holigans making a comeback too. Integrity and NS- now you could start a whole debate on that one. Steve
  3. Recorded 31/8/75 I am sure Mayfield was long gone from her world by then......Steve
  4. Yipee! Just done my first ever upload to refosoul and it seems to work. A clip of Patti Jo "This is the price" Scepter (1975/6). As I said a nice Invictus / crossovery feel to this one. Not as funky as MMBIY but See what ya think. I have played it at Yarmouth a few times but not recently Steve
  5. What does that bit in the box say?
  6. Yup, I might still have one example in the lock up down the road. Depending on how the England games goes might venture down there later.
  7. There's an 'uncracked' copy in South Somerset
  8. Haydn, Did he interview any soul collectors or was it the usual array of "I collect Status Quo Uzbekistan picture sleeves" types? ANd the doo woppers all chasing the same records. Steve
  9. Yes would agree with that sentiment. Begs the question what is the scene today? A myriad of slightly different genres all crossing over, there is no difinitive weekly venue to focus on, and the scene as we call it is probably better for that. It's gonna take more than a few "dancing extras" flouncing off stage to convince me that this is or isn't a watchable / enjoyable film.
  10. Theyr'e all in my house in Somerset, I'm not.
  11. Not sure BP would agree with that sentiment right now Beeks, the point is, and many forget this, Russ isn't actually on the scene. he is in a parallel universe reliving Wigan Casino. He's actually irrelevant to today's scene. As I said yesterday the scene is being championed by thousands of others. No sign of Mr WInstanley, except when there's a play, film, CD, TV programme on Wigan Casino etc. Anyway I still don't know why Paul S got involved with him. But then again i don't really care either
  12. Yes agree, but there again he doesn't exactly attarct a lot of positive vibes Chalky.
  13. Yes they do.
  14. Have you seen it then?
  15. Yes I do but they are German releases
  16. Already being played (once the James Phelps c/up) and a good price.
  17. But it's not boogaloo is it? More like "Tighten Up" Part 234
  18. crikey got mine for about $30, but it was about 10 years ago.
  19. Yup got one somewhere not very good as I recall. Written by group member McFadden(later of & Whitehead who was also in the group)
  20. Cheers played it in Barcelona at the warm up gig, it's got that "Tighten up" feel that is now so popular.
  21. Sorry but can't look right now but does this have "Monkey boogaloo" on the B side? Cheapie that might take off today but for the monkey sounds.
  22. Yes out of Peterborough run by Dave Reed and Keith Wilcox, they put on all nighters etc. at the time. Think they are still about. Steve
  23. I'll try and be costructive soulboy here about these "top DJs" from the 70s (and I didn't want to get into another Winstanley bashing thread), but some of em were absent from the soul scene for nigh on 20 years, then came back thinking that the scene hadn't changed and they would simply step back onto their dusty thrones, welcomed by the masses like returning Kings from the Crusades. Of course the scene had changed beyond all recognition to the scene they left back in the late 70s. Knowledge has improved at least twenty fold in the intervening years, so for my money the first thing they should have done (and in fairness some of them have done this) is sit back and listen to what has gone down, recognise the wealth of knowledge that has been developed, respect and work with the next generation of flag carriers, rather than simply trying to retake their thrones in Kingdom's that have fundamentally changed. Russ didn't do any of that. He always had "credibility issues" even in the halcyon days of the Casino, and isn't really part of today's scene at all. I know of two promotors on here who have booked him in recent years (one down here ), and he runs his annual candle-lit pilgrimage up Station Road etc. but to all intents and purposes he's running his own Wigan Casino bandwagon. Meanwhile our beautiful music continues to be championed by thousands of others.
  24. Interesting I didn't realise Richard had been "banned" as early as September 19th I still can't believe they paid out the insurance claim - club closes, then it catches fire
  25. Yes well.......one thing I don't understand is why did you get involved with Winstanley in the first place? Surely by the early 2000s everyone on the scene knew what to expect from this fella. Except you it seems Paul?
