  1. Next few years Ian? Well I hope they hurry up and put them out before those that are interested in unissued material all end up "retired" or "programmed" only to be receptive to the singalong 70s classics. WHat timescale please Ian?
  2. Dylan, I wasn't aware of a Gwen McCrae standing room only, unless it's a more recent thing? Certainly not on my albums or 45s....
  3. Strewth Wigans Ovation worse than I remember them and that's saying something!!!!
  4. Hi Bob, are there many of us sweet collectors left out there? Sometimes it feels like a lonely existance
  5. A "few hundred" may be a bit of poetic licence for 200-300 or something (only John knows), but there must be at least 50 in the UK alone when you think about it - even more if Garry took 50 off of John. Even I am surprised by how many oldies DJs I hear end on it.....I don't really see this one as a holy grail I am afraid. Hard to source now maybe and that's why the price has gone so high. As well as the overseas collectors there are also some folks in the UK that collect records and don't DJ I know you know that and we mustn't forget them. Yes very good  I also have a cage where I keep my 'Lion' label stuff. and a fridge which is stacked with "Philadelphia" records :
  6. You sold one to me Andy.
  7. I looked in my Cat box - it ain't there. Oh yeah, never noticed it before.....
  8. Thanks for posting this Alan T, I knew I was not going mad (yet!). Ties in with what the boys told me as well. John had good contacts in Florida for many years and also I remember (before anyone posts it as a 'rare' record ) him telling me how he left Henry Stone's warehouse one day with as many Charles Johnson's on Alston as he could carry - a sports bag packed plus copies under his arms etc...hundreds of em....
  9. Wow interesting.....thanks Mine is mint Gareth. And I have never noticed a sound fault, I'll have to listen again.
  10. Hi Gareth It was actually John and Garry that told me over dinner once at a weekender. They couldn't believe that it was selling for £600 or whatever at the time......I don't know how many or where, like so many records, they disappeared to.
  11. Yes it was reissued Mark but way too soon, it hasn't really had it's day yet. Those of us with the original still play it. and there are a lot of people that still don't know it.
  12. Hi Paul, I have the other (?) acetate of this. If it's the same one the one you had was with Kenny Burrell at one point as I remember coming back from Rimini with him and we both had it in our boxes.
  13. He needs an issue of the Fast track record great B side.....
  14. Yet this was a Soul Pack record at one point Either John A or Garry Cape I cannot remember which.
  15. Thanks for posting Pete, have started listening and of the bit I've listened to recognise a number of em like Kitty Dodswell Willie Wade Roz Ryan Anette Thomas Tony Drake Leroy Barbour and Billy byrd and the tempo is quite varied which is good. I guess if you have that collector gene in you it never leaves you.
  16. Only a demo here Bob, so agreed it looks elusive.
  17. This is Derek Martin Paul
  18. I didn't think this was rare at all. Been on the shelves for ages Bob.] Amazing!
  19. Interesting list, some have gone up some have gone down. When did the bespectacled one compile the list?
  20. Yup all the titles were too slow then for most of the UK customers......Chuck Cockerham - wow - but in the sweaty dripping vest main hall of the Casino nah, fairy music, stick on "The joker" or Judy street please......That said John has always sold to Japan and deep collectors as well....back in the 70s though Chuck Cockerham was only a few years old so maybe wasn't realised to be a hard to find record at that point.
  21. Oh yes there is.......Peggy Scott on Atco and darrow Fletcher issue for starters and I bet there's a few more as well when I get my thinking cap on.....
  22. Ok thanks. That often happens someone turns up a box of 25 of something that was previously 'hardish'.
  23. Oh I might have that, wil check later Bob. Just remembered another scarce one on Buddah is an issue of Carol townes & Fifth Avenue with a B side.
