  1. I also think some of the lustre has gone out of this one, since it was re-pressed a few years ago with the reissues being passed off as originals.....and some people getting duped........all got rather messy as I recall.
  2. Cheers Dave, might be an idea if Mike could transfer this bit out of the mysterious Teeside DJ sells up thread to a separate thread of it's own under All our yesterdays...Would do it but don't know how. But agreed, although not really a soul article, those clubs were interesting to read about. As was the bombshell of the old station opposite the Casino.....Would have been bloody handy for avoiding the 'townies' on the walk up the hill on a Saturday night.
  3. I can rule myself out lads, as I don't recall playing anything with that in the lyrics at Barca.....
  4. Strewth man, that's brilliant four you. I now have another gap in my Twinight collection : But great you got this....Steve
  5. Sorry this is off topic, but quite interesting for both trainspotters and Casino goers This is why it was called Station Road.....scroll down.... https://www.lankybeat.com/Venues.html
  6. Thanks for the clarity was sitting at work (and I have both labels I know that) but couldn't remember.....Getting older....
  7. Nope right opposite the Casino where the car park was apparantly. Demolished in 1973.
  8. Well spotted Miff. I rest my case. If you're lucky the buyer might find "Ring my bell" in there too!
  9. Well he must have sold his records at some point......cos he ain't got 'em anymore. : The mystery that was Wigan Casino eh. Never seen a picture of the Central Station before today either.....I always wondered why Station Road didn't have a station
  10. Dave do you know which came first Smoke City or Midtown? I can't remember. Had the Smoke City one a little while will have to dig it out.
  11. This bit of the "Russ's records have been stolen" bit I never knew or heard we were slow with the "gossip".
  12. Me for one Joan - Would rather watch paint dry than trawl through another 600 crap records / repros / UK 70s etc - there won't be anything for the likes of us in there kiddo Tezza, the seller says: There is approx 600 7" singles Fookin' heavy box to lug about all over the country!!!
  13. I played the crossover side at a venue once it bombed and the bar suddenly became very busy! Shades of Curtis M in the vocals I thought......good record.
  14. Yes it says Andrew Hamilton at the end Bob. Quite interesting article I thought - Joan Baez on Way Out? :
  15. Not really common obviously, but I've seen a few go by.....am I not playing by the rules? Apologies..... I don't think the Betty Wright demo is common either, took me a long while to find one.
  16. Carbon Copies for me. I've seen several float by the window, but there's always been something I wanted more, or a maniac with an oversized bank balance to contend with
  17. I am not sure Chalky, I only just joined Mixcloud so am still finding my way round.
  18. I am posting this up in "all about the soul", rather than "media", but I have found, taken off of cassette and put up some of the old interviews I did a few years ago....well nearly a decade ago with: - Sidney Barnes - Lou Pride -... Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  19. I am posting this up in "all about the soul", rather than "media", but I have found, taken off of cassette and put up some of the old interviews I did a few years ago....well nearly a decade ago with: - Sidney Barnes - Lou Pride - Al Boyd of the Imperial Wonders (very interesting about Cleveland soul scene) -Cal Thomas of TSU Toronados - a shorter and earlier interview with Emmanuel Lasky a while before he died. They are a mix of talk and music as I go through their musical careers, and you can hear them on my mixcloud page http://www.mixcloud....steve-guarnori/ Hope some of you will find them of interest. Steve
  20. Well done Cliff. But please do it live.....ATB Steve
  21. There are at least two different People labels in the US. Which one?
  22. Soul people shows are recorded bY Zane and stored on essentialmodernsoul on the radio page, under solar. ATB Steve
  23. I got the Tripplets from Adey Pierce Bob, really to complete all my Tripplet Twins records, didn't realise it was hard. It was a £10 er.
  24. Thanks Dylan not aware of that LP which is much later than all her Cat stuff and the Atlantic one....which is about where I cut off as far as Gwennie Babes is concerned. Also has Robbing Peter to pay Paul etc, I have the original version of that on Hot Rays somewhere, but would need to dig it out to remember who did it (not saying it's rare as clearly it was a soul bowl front page focus in the early 80s). Cheers Steve
