I know it has been known for ages.
I don't know whether it's been played on the northern scene or not. I doubt it would be played on the rare soul scene.
I am not condoning someone charging £50 for a copy. It was £10 on Saturday - but that is one of the downsides of this Record Day stuff - instant demand and exploitation.
Have already said I like collecting vinyl. Scoff all you want, but it's a nice item to have on a 12" single.
See you soon Glyn.
Oh F*ck off Glyn.
This isn't about the northern scene picking up on a record after the modern scene shock horror.
It's about a collectible vinyl release. I'm a vinyl man. Thought you were a vinyl man yerself?
The trouble with that Steve is the logistics of getting a limited run distributed to the shops and suppliers where it is wanted. Example is Charles Bradley which I mentioned the other day on another thread, none came into Crazy Beat, but HMV have so many they were selling them on line......a bit of a bollox really!
Funny thing is I went looking for the address of the label once when I was in the USA, and it doesn't actually exist and never did....
I wonder if other records have the same problem. There is a 'Ford St' but no 'Ford Avenue' in the town it came from.
Weird....
Yes and if this carries on, how long before a dealer who gets stock holds them back, rather doing what the Honest Johns on here have done and make them available day one?
Thanks for posting - looks like a signed copy too. Maybe she autographed it for a fan when she appeared at the now sadly missed "Pidgeon-shufflers and Neckenders" Niter?
I do think the threadstarter is being a mischief and on un grand wind up. Yesterday it was "Why do no DJs carry '6x6' in their box anymore?" and today it's "Duffy".
His next thread will be "Is it ok to play pressings in a club?".
That will be followed by "I can still fit into my Spencers baggies - should i wear them out?
A sweet little pop record, but what the f*ck has it got to do with northern soul then? WHy would you even want to hear it when there are so many better records, unless of course you are a complete divvie or a wind up merchant.....
Has anyone seen the Charles Bradley 45 that was supposed to come across for this years record shop day?
I've got the Fame box, the Carter 45 EP, both nice, and the 12 (Gregory Porter 1960 what?), but no sign of the Charles Bradley 45?.
I also have this. It's a vanity record, that clearly didn't sell or get distributed by Chess. For a long time it was the rarest of the 60s Chess soul 45s, which is why the discographies have the name wrong. Both sides are pretty cool I think. How many copies have turned up?
