  1. Thanks Andy. No word from Pat yet. Steve
  2. Indeed, it's on Jimmy's own website. which is pretty good I agree...Jimmy was the only artist to sign a recording deal with the label, the rest were brought in masters.....Steve
  3. I am sure I read it on Soulful Detroit Flynny... Two Garrisons in fact NY area records, Jimmy Raye and Alan Bruce.
  4. Right but that's not surprising since the mission statement of Pete Garris was to "bring in new R&B masters from around the country". Of all Garrisons releases only one was truly from the NY area.
  5. Bargain. Great 70s dancer and the best of their two on the label. Someone snap it up.
  6. Yes I agree, these wild guesses are becoming a way of life. If people don't know they just make something up.....and if no one says anything, it then becomes "fact".... I've emailed Pat and Andy has emailed Louvain. Hopefully that will confirm the Andantes story that fred Bridges said (or squash it). And Marc the HoneyBees on Garrison was recorded in Detroit not New York. United Sound Studios.
  7. Thanks Andy, look forward to response....I'll ask Pat. Thanks Rich. Interesting that Fred is quite adamant about this.... We may be getting closer to solving. Anyone know anything about Billy Prophet on Garrison?
  8. No Mikey Honey & The Bees were a Philly act, totally different and their records and career is well documented. In the past people assumed that the Honey Bees on Garrison were the Fontana group (partly The Cookies and partly some others etc seems like they just got different girls to use the name). The Garrison girls are the ones I am interested in identifying.
  9. Yes lots of speculation gordon, but does anyone know for sure? Marc I don't think they are the same Honey Bees on Acadamy. As for The Andantes? Interesting.... Keep em rolling....
  10. I am totally out of touch with what small / medium sized labels are putting out Blues / R&B product these days. Spoke to a singer that's looking for a deal for his CD, and wondered if the masses on soul source had any directional pointers to assist? Thanks, Steve
  11. Any ideas? I am convinced they were not the Fontana incarnations (of which there were two groups). In fact I think they may have been some local Detroit touring backing singers that Edwin Starr put together with his then tour manager Don Mancha? This would explain the writer credits at least. Anyone know for sure? Also what's the story on Garrison 3004 being a Billy Prophet 45? I saw this on Uncle Dave Rimmers site? Again anyone have any info on this? Thanks Steve
  12. Great record Not easy to find.
  13. Maybe his Grandad went or something.
  14. There's a killer version by Eddie Carr as well.
  15. Hi Pete, hardest PArt was 84/5, How Can I tell her was 79.....ATB Steve
  16. Yes on WWIN Baltimore. There's a picture of him on the cover of old Blackbeat No 14. Had pix of She Devil and others on the label as well.,....SPoke to him AFTER How can I tell her but before he did Hardest PArt,
  17. Donald Alpert was from Detroit I thought. Seem to recall he was on The Cracksteppin album.
  18. Very good record, very popular in Spain last month at Runaway Love weekender....floor filler.
  19. Things is too many look at records from the perspective of niters or what's happening on the UK Saga (50s +) northern scene. It all changed, it's now all internet and global. I see plenty of sellers at niters not selling a bean, and yet previously unmovable records going overseas for a tidy sum. The old rules no longer apply beyond the obvious "trophy" records.
  20. It's all one way traffic though. I don't see anyone starting threads saying that a record offered for sale on here is ridiculously cheap. The rule there seems to be "good luck to the buyer".
  21. But Pete, I think it's only fair if someone is trying to sell something not to spoil it with comments about their suggested price. People will either buy the record or they won't and there's nothing to stop individuals pm-ing the seller with offers or thoughts if they think the seller has got it badly wrong. Stuff like going off the rocker sounds like there is a difinitive price for everything - there isn't. As the scene fractures and fragments doing prices becomes increasingly challenging.
  22. Thanks Roburt 853 The Fantastic BJ's - honestly you couldn't make it up!
  23. Argghhh! Stop trying to twist things around. I answered the question (as I always do when I know an answer) right from the off, post 3 or 4, and that should have been that, but you simply didn't want to believe it for some reason. I'm done with this now. Corrie is on. Over and out.
  24. No wrong way round Nev. I told you it was the same label right upfront, BUT you kept going on "I am not so sure, it says Nashville bla bla, I think it might be different bla bla" - that's when I did the google and posted it up. Had you done the google in the first place, or checked the two record scans for publisher credits, the outcome would have been the same, but you wouldn't have posted those comments. I wouldn't have told you they were from SC and the same label if they weren't. Why should I have to post up stuff from the internet for you to believe it?
  25. Hi, none of us always get it right.....I'm done. Chilled out.
