  1. Group is Triboro Exchange
  2. Isn't the problem for the seller if the pack gets lost, the only proof they have of value is what they've put on the customs dec? That's why I thought (apart from any legal requirement) some sellers put full value on the package.
  3. also another 0 feedback seller......hmmmm!
  4. This was discussed on the old soulful detroit forum, the "smart money" there was on it being done at United. Steve
  5. I've got one too, don't think it's that rare just one of the harder ones on Ric Tic to pick up.
  6. Yes but less frequent.
  7. It had a revival a few years ago with the funky northern crowd as an "oldie pick". A few of us gave it a "push" for a while. Steve
  8. High Voltage "Country road" isn't banished.....heaven forbid!
  9. Hmmmm...."Trophy record" of the highest order.
  10. Hi Pete, yes very rare and it probably didn't make it out of the warehouse officially. It was probably a demo thing that Ashford & SImpson did with Jo, and maybe even Stanley Greenberg. No idea why they put it out, I meant to ask Ed Silvers if he recalled it when I interviewed him, but forgot all about it. Valerie says it ain't her, which leaves Jo A as the likely culprit on the vocal version that Ady C located (I haven't tracked Jo down yet). They obviously just toned down the vocals on The Camp 45, like they did on several other tunes. There were quite a few things they didn't put out on demo, all very hit and miss. Steve
  11. Ha ha funny that In all seriousness I do need a copy of "The Camp" for my Scepter collection. Valerie says it's not her on vocals so must be Jo Armstead
  12. Andy Rix is your man Pete, he did the sleeve notes to Kent's CDs as I recall, and pretty informative they were too - fire in warehouse during riots etc...stock destroyed etc. Steve
  13. It certainly did, most of them are ok - good. Not many turkeys. John - yes same mix.
  14. Another Randy Brown oddity is his Christmas song on Sound Town. Have a white label test pressing of it.
  15. When you find out Len perhaps you can give us all a lesson on what it is - bit like "n.s dancing classes" in yer local High St maybe  On second thoughts...... :
  16. Hi Andy, Quite a few points there. Yes most people don't want "educating" (for want of a better term) on a night out. It's a dwindling minority that actually want to hear something different - and it's the same on other soul scenes as well. As Terry says the majority of people going out want a good time, and for most a good time increasingly means hearing things they know / are familiar with, or a "name" DJ from the glory days of the past. One reason I've cut back on weekenders is that the majority these days just seem to be one long p*** up sing-a-long anthem-fest. Fine if that's what the majority want but not rerally where my head is at. Rare soul DJs spinning non rare tunes: Yes there are a lot of people who claim to be spinning "rare" who aren't - they are playing £5 records that couldn't be given away a few years ago. But there are equally a number of DJs who do play genuinly rare records - it's sorting the wheat from the chaff etc., since the "rare" badge is pinned to many things these days. But then you get yourself tied up in the "quality v playing something because it's rare" argument. To my mind you can have both, but not many DJs able to do both well. Steve
  17. On the "talking boards" a lot of people would feature 1 highly. Out in clubland I doubt you'd find many that would say anything other than 2.
  18. Not an enormous amount since it's one it's more of a "collectors" record. £75 to a collector I'd say.
  19. It doesn't show up often, I managed to get mine out of soul sam's sales box.....
  20. Yes walked there in the pouring rain once....Loads of 45s but they're all trashed. g- and worse.
  21. Indeed Byrney....but I never worked out is this really Diane Lewis or a cover name for the acetate?
  22. Who was responsible for this one? Russ?
  23. The link isn't working..>ATB Steve
  24. Can't see this one actually mentioned above, but it's pretty tough to find despite being pretty well known about and I think quite infectious in a Roy Dawson sort of way. Twas covered up for a short while.
