  1. Back in 1968 I was 13 and regularly going to my local youth club Haylands in Bedford, remember hearing a mix of Motown and Reggae on the record player played there, but a big moment for me was hearing Doris Troy - I'll do anything late one night at home in my bedroom whilst tuned in to radio Caroline (I think). The Doris Troy track was so uplifting and powerful and as good as the Motown sound I liked but yet it was different..... and so started my search for that alternative upbeat sound that later became known as 'Northern Soul'
  2. I WOULD SAY ABOUT £150 FOR THE ALBUM, UNLESS......... YOURE ALBUM IS STILL SHRINK WRAPPED (AS YOU SAY ITS MINT-) IF THATS THE CASE THEN YOUR A LUCKY MAN AND YOU WOULD HAVE THE BONUS FREE SINGLE INSIDE OF 'NOT ME BABY' WHICH WOULD BE REAL HANDY COS THAT WOULD PROBABLY INCREASE THE VALUE BY ABOUT £750 .....OH YES!!!
  3. ORDINARY JOE - TERRY CALLIER Does go on a bit, I tend to fade out the end before i fall asleep when DJing
  4. I have a multicoloured HI demo of this which looks the business. Incidentally there is a copy for sale on ebay as we speak, but what appears to be becoming more common is that the seller only ships to the US.... Unless you can contact him and pesuade him otherwise. Ive missed a few bargains because of this, I might start a thread about this subject!!!
  5. Hi there I have a white label promo in VG+ TO VG++ condition if your interested I'm after £75-00 for it as the promo is pretty rare. Both labels are very clean and the press is in the much better and durable vinyl. Just few very very light hairlines on the SURELY side with the same on the STAY MY LOVE SIDE but with a couple of slightly more noticeable 25mm scratches not affecting play at all. Get back to me and let me know if your interested HAMMIE

  11. REALLY SORRY TO READ SUCH SAD NEWS ON SS. MY SINCERE BEST WISHES TO YOU MANDY AT THIS SAD TIME TREV WAS A REALLY NICE AND UNASSUMING GUY...... I WOULD ALWAYS PLAY - THE VALENTINOS - SWEETER ' FOR TREV WHEN HE CAME ALONG TO SOUL NIGHTS IN BEDFORD...... I WILL ALWAYS NOW THINK OF HIM WHEN I PLAY THAT TUNE HAMMIE
  12. Thought the PROPHETS - ONE GOLD PIECE -SHRINE was aquired by a well known Dj for a five figure sum. Anyone have any details on this ?
  13. I had one of these, (sold it fo £30) and I think its pretty rare but I have to admit I have never seen any other Groove city White Demos. Would'nt it be great if there was a SAM WARD or a HOLLIDAYS......how much for one of those?
  14. Hi de hi mate... Yes I have me own copy....and its NOT for sale. Got my copy of ebay 3 or 4 years ago for around $200. And yes, maybe I should play it in Sams absence.... yeah!!!
  15. That CODY BLACK WD looks great I would say its a lot rarer than more expensive desirable promo's. I have a dark blue and silver first issue vinyl promo of CODY BLACK which you also dont often see. Have just won on Ebay today a WEST COAST WHITE PROMO of BARBARA MILLS on HICKORY for the massive sum of $23-00 dollars... I dont think a lot of people know how rare this is !!!!!
  16. I had a YELLOW PROMO of the other more common TRI-SOUND label in the 70,s but I sold it to Terry Ryder as part of my first collection in 1980.
  17. Had a stone minter of TONY CLARKE off John Anderson in the 70,s. It really did look a treat with the silver embossed chess logo all over the label. Unfortunately I sold that copy, but have recently (2 years ago) acquired another but in only VG condition oh hum!!! I have a lovely WEST COAST demo of JOHNNY HOWARD on BASHIE ....I dont think you see many of these. And a Bashie WD of the VISITORS which I think is pretty rare.
  18. GREAT RECORD NEVER REALLY HAD ITS DAY............YET. METHINKS
  19. TOBI LEGEND - MALA ISSUE LOU RAGLAND - AMY ISSUE YUM YUMS - ABC PARAMOUNT ISSUE I think all these exist.... Definately known as a ONE OFF ONLY EARL JACKSON - ABC ISSUE And only TWO KNOWN I think LARRY CLINTON - DYNAMO ISSUE
  20. CANT FIND A SCAN OF AN ORIGINAL PRELUDES BUT THE LABEL OF A REAL ONE SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS..... THE 70'S 2ND ISSUES CAME FROM JOHN ANDERSON (SOUL BOWL) I THINK THE 2ND ISSUE PRELUDES IS ON AN ORANGE LABEL WTH HARTHON IN A PLAIN STRAIGHT TYPEFACE. THE UNITED FOUR, BODY MOTIONS, VOLCANOS (FALSE ALARM) ETC... WERE ALL DONE AS 2ND ISSUES IN THE SAME WAY...SEE BELOW 2ND ISSUE 2ND ISSUE 2ND ISSUE HOPE THIS HELPS.... APART FROM THE UNITED FOUR ALL THE OTHER RED LABELLED HARTHON ORIGINALS ARE QUITE HARD AND ALSO VERY COLLECTIBLE. A REAL PRELUDES MIGHT FETCH £150 TO £200 ALL THE BEST HAMMIE
  21. No TIMI YURO - IT'LL NEVER BE OVER FOR ME for you then Chris what a shame Or an ERNIE & ED - INDICATION - JAY BOY to name a couple of british only gems
  22. This also came out on British Sue circa 1966 which is nice but has gotta be pretty rare
  23. You obviously realise the old pressing does'nt have the fantastic vocal side 'Something about my baby' which is why this record has gone up so much in value. The pressing has the instumental of 'Satisfy me baby'
  24. Yes indeed, I was Dj'ing with the Dyson Saturday and i had it in my hand (the record) after he gave it a spin
  25. I have a red copy of this dont know which is rarer red or light blue ? Incidentally I prefer the other side - 'What did she do'
