  1. I got a styrene issue of "TOO LATE" with an etched number in the run out groove and a 'promo' sticker on the other side, also got a Clara Wood demo from the same place in California, both mint and in Company sleeves. It is a fallacy to assume that all OKEH records were stamped, IMHO.
  2. As far as I can recall, and I may be wrong, Alan Rhodes was playing "The Night" before it went big for Russ at Wigan. I think Alan Rhodes used to deejay at a club in York- 'The Hypnotique'. I think he may have discovered quite a few things, or played them first; e.g. Sisters Love on MoWest. He may have been a UK collector also. I think he may have done some time behind the decks at Wigan too. Apologies if I am wide of the mark.....but it was a long time ago now!
  3. How was it "uncovered"? When? Who by?
  4. I am going to change my name to Victor Meldrew!
  5. So why did it take so long for Mr. Soul to get found....and then soon after the record had been sold on....the Al Scott appeared.....???
  6. And I thought that I was anal!!!
  7. Ffs... it was one of Ian Levine's also rans....a spot filler before Lou Edwards, Ernest Mosley, James Fountain! Most people that didn't go to The Mecca or Sale or wherever Ian and Colin Curtis played would not have known it, and at the time would not have bought a copy if it was available. Let's stop the pretence, it is just another oldie that has been reactivated...a la Johnny Howard, Brothers Sisters and Cousins....that the nouveau collectors, attendees didn't have an inkling about.....the whole Northern Scene IS an oldies trip now. The fraying at the edges has been caused by time and elements that were never there....everyone now wants to make a killing out of a carcass!
  8. The good thing is that everyone who owns it, likes it....and as Kev Roberts says, he wouldn't sell it/ his/ a hypothetical one for a grand.......everyone is quids in........what a bargain!
  9. That looks great.....did you get owt?
  10. Where did it all go so, so wrong!!?
  11. "Wheely" bloody awful!
  12. As far as I know Innersection was played as a new release from the States at the Mecca in the '76/77 years. I wrote to the label / World Wide Sound Distributors Incorporated and a bloke called Jack Fishback sent me a couple of copies with some Country and Western record by Goolsby & Plante and Serena Johnson "All Work And No Play" which Colin Curtis bought for a fiver. The same week Oscar Perry sent me "Mainstring"....which Colin also got from me.
  13. Dave Evison also played stuff like: Lou Christie "Lightnin' Strikes" Tony Joe White "Polk Salad Annie" John Fred "Hey Bunny"...... this was at Wigan in the halcyon days when the oldies were played in the main room. Martin Ellis had gone.....draw your own conclusions!
  14. Nice to see you are doing so well....I don't think anyone will offer you A Bag Of Sand.....but one never knows, does one!?
  15. Really? Who is The Golden 101......??
  16. Really?
  17. I can't believe that Kev Roberts was offered £700+ and didn't sell it. What a load of pap!!!
  18. CAVEAT EMPTOR.... Buyer beware! Similar caper to that "Inspirations" not too long ago....or what?!
  19. Why can't I get it right?
  20. Or even "I Can't Deny I Love You".
  21. The Capitals "Ooh What You're Doing To Me"/ "Can't Deny That I Love You" (Omen).
