  3. The 7 inch has a slightly less of a "boogie" feel. Different mix However even Chubby Checker liked being "Down the Disco" sometime in the midst of the 60s.
  4. Nice to hear you put the 12inch version on Pete - just forget the 7" & album version - long version reigns supreme. Big tune @ Family Tree gigs - an anthem. Ebay has copies on quite regularly - between 30 & 40 quid now.
  5. Like the JJ Barnes "Everybody Needs Somebody" Motown acetate - anyone got a soundfile of this?
  6. Sneaky eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must be Henri Camara's agent behind this one.
  7. Look At Me Now - Carl Carlton (Same as Terry Callier) Ego Levine played it from an acetate on the Dick Searling show some years ago
  8. Until You Come Back To Me - Aretha Franklin Never Can Say Goodbye - Jackson 5 Tell Me What You Want - Jimmy Ruffin IMHO These are just good soul records - I think the word "commercial" refers to the fact they sold well & hit the mainstream charts - this does not detract from their quality. Perhaps we sometimes get bogged down in the rarity & value syndrome to listen to what real quality is hiding in the dark corners of our boxes.
  9. Glad that is sorted then - I only said he was white upon information recieved. He could be from the planet Zod as far as I am concerned - what a wonderful piece of music he has given us.
  10. Esko Affair - Salt & Pepper. Great Vince Montana arrangement over a naff catchy tune.
  11. Records I am very partial to include - Al Williams Shawne Robinson Ronnie Mcneir Maurice Williams Chuck Cockerham (WHITE!!!) Danny Wagner (WHITE!!!) G.Davis & R Tyler (Instrumental) Mickey Moonshine pales (sic) into insignificance compared to the above tunes - they are Soul records. MM at best is a catchy pop record with "that" certain rhythm. Anyway Jon - lighten up - if you can't take a joke you shouldn't have joined
  12. " Shed some light on Mickey Moonshine?" I'd sooner shed about 4 ton of hardcore on him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :graywanker:
  13. I think its called a guitar - sometimes those pesky backing musicians in the studio make a noise. Great record though - cheap as well.
  14. Hearts of Stone - If I Could Give You The World Supremes & Four Tops - Do You Love Me Just A Little The Courtship - Same Old Love Kathe Greene - Love City
  15. SOMEBODY I KNOW - WALES WALLACE DEAR LOVER - MARY WELLS BET YOU NEVER THOUGHT - GENE CHANDLER TODAYS MAN- MARK PUTNEY IF I COULD GIVE YOU THE WORLD - HEARTS OF STONE SINCE I LOST YOU GIRL - THE MONITORS YOU TAKE MY LOVE FOR GRANTED - HODGES JAMES & SMITH HEART BE STILL - JACKIE MOORE I'LL BE TRUE - VIRGIL HENRY ALL ON A SUNNY DAY - DEON JACKSON
  16. In the RCA studios in the mid to late sixties just listening to all those tracks being laid down by Lorraine Chandler & Sharron Scott - heaven .
  17. hi Steve 3 Degrees - great tune - there is one on ebay at the moment - think it is about 6 dollars. The Eddie Kendricks re-edit you want is at Hard To Find Records in Birmingham - 8 quid - get it bought cheers maurice williams
  18. Got the cd. Superfly remix by Louie Vega is excellent Little Child Running Wild is also worthwhile. The rest are not really my thing. Suggest you acquire a copy from a source other than a major retailer - if you know what I mean
  19. "Tune Up" - Junior Walker More like "Puke Up"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Carstairs was a groundbreaking tune - perhaps it being only just over 30 years old makes it toooooooooooooooo "modern" for some of you. 40 year old reggae tunes - pass me the blowtorch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Can one enquire as to which makes the better ashtray? - styrene or vinyl? Any tips on temperature settings? Wouldn't them importy records have a big hole in the centre - rendering them useless for collecting cigarette ash. In fact as much use as a copy of Larry Trider at a quality soul night!!!!!!
  22. Depends who wants to know. I can be whoever you want me to be! List all the people you know who loved the Mecca & Wolves - live on the Fylde Coast & then see how many of them fit this criteria. You "Fine Young Girl"
  23. David - soundbyte on Manships site.
