  1. Our kids will have flogged off all those 7 inch bits of plastic because they won't work in their virtual reality hi tech world. Only tunes left will be on some old ipod from the year 2005 - "yea me dad had it on original mp3" wiill be discussed at your wake.

I just hoping to have enough money to buy a food blender (no solids allowed) & a bit of spare change to stock up on incontinence pants & actually use talc the way it was intended.

  2. I presume that most people on these forums have a northern soul background. Let's consider northern as opposed to soulful house.

NORTHERN SOUL- Uptempo soul recorded generally on small, obscure labels in the mid sixties.

SOULFUL HOUSE- Uptempo soul recorded generally on small, obscure labels in the past ten years.

SPOT the difference? ABOUT 35 YEARS!!!!!!

It is generally considered that the golden years of northern soul were 1972 - 1975. Therefore the records we danced to were not much more than 7 to 10 years old. Is Northern Soul the new rock & roll?

All you collectors out there will be peddling soulful house in the year 2035 - the new Northern Soul!!!!

  3. "Let It Go" is on a 12 on the "Nervous" label. It came out in 2000. It is also available on various house compilations cdc. Expect to pay between £10 & £20. Crops up on ebay from time to time so you may get it cheaper.

A big fave at Marine Hall Fleetwood - you will hear it there this Saturday. Stand on me it will be a huge "Northern" tune in years to come - Soulful dance at its best.

  4. Spot on Martyn - I'm with you on this one - loved dancing to Tavares, DC Larue & Idris Muhammad etc. That said, would also stay on the floor to Rotations, Jimmy Raye & Paul Sindab etc.

If only people would stop categorizing the music we all love. Soul music is great in 2005. Equally it was great in 1965 & the 4 decades that seperate the two years. We are privileged people - let's appreciate everything we have heard & look forward to hearing tunes not even made yet.,

  5. Bo & Ruth is awesome - full length album version with that wonderful piano & sax break - would love a 12" of this but I don't think it exists.

As regards the Ritz revival count all us ex Mecca Fylde Coasters in - where do we buy tickets?

I remember the LP version of "You" by Samuel Jonathon Johnson (Columbia) being a brilliant tune at the Ritz - yet the 12inch mix was dreadful!!.

DANCE YOUR ASS OFF (The Frisco Disco)

  6. 3 ex mecca tunes to consider - popularised by colin curtis in the legendary last hour

IF IT FEELS THIS GOOD - BARBARA JEAN ENGLISH

HAS LOVE BEEN HERE BEFORE - FABULOUS DETERMINATIONS

YOU TAKE MY LOVE FOR GRANTED - HODGES JAMES & SMITH

BLACKPOOL MECCA 74/75 WAS THE PLACE TO HEAR CROSSOVER IN THE LEGENDARY LAST HOUR. SUCH TUNES AS DENISE KEEBLE, LINDA PERRY, JACKIE MOORE, THE CHARISMA BAND & SWEET GERALDINE ETC. - THE BRILLIANT LIST IS ENDLESS. PICTURE THE SCENE - JULY 1975 - IT'S 1.30 AM AT BLACKPOOL - COLIN CURTIS LAYS DON GARDNER ON THE DECKS - 40 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE CARMEL STRINGS IS TEARING UP THE DANCEFLOOR - YOU'VE JUST CROSSED OVER - BRILLIANT SOUL TO POP PAP

FORWARD TO THE YEAR 2004 - THE ORWELL - IT'S THE EXITS. TY KARIM, TOWANDA & TOTAL DESTRUCTION - THE CROSSOVER PORTAL IS RE OPENED - BRILLIANT.
