  1. I Need Help Rescue Me SOS C'mon & Swim Man Without A Woman Captain Of My Ship Panic Help Me Washed Ashore I'm So Tired Of Being Lonely Coming To Your Rescue & a nice bit of beach music.
  2. I have heard plenty of Northern Soul records. I have also heard plenty of uptempo pop records. The knack is to distinguish one from the other.
  3. Ged, I can think of something equally as nasty "My Life With You" - The Traditions. I have a a very low tolerance to naff pop records that are passed off as soul music. I have an antidote though - I just think about all the good stuff & then I don't feel so bad - beginning to sound like Julie Andrews now.
  4. Nightwatch - "Lips To Your Heart". 'Nuff Said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Remember it being played at the legendary Junior Walker/Edwin Starr All-Dayer back in '74 - it was not an unknown then.
  6. I think the words "NOT FOR SALE" are plain & simple to understand!
  7. Got one last week on a 12 inch single from raw wax records for £5.99. Check www.rawwax.co.uk
  8. Tragic news indeed - hugely underrated IMHO - had his own unique style - another sad loss to the soul scene. RIP Willie
  9. Why do some people include "let's have no politics & just enjoy the music" in their posts then do precisely the opposite? Can any dj honestly say they have never played a record of "dubious" origin? Think about the word honestly before you answer. Collectors & djs have this misconception that they own the scene - many of whom are so anally retentive that to actually be bothered to spend some time on a dancefloor & heaven forbid "enjoy themselves" is beyond them. Twenty dancers or one "chin stroker" - which of these adds up to a good night at a venue?
  10. Think all the "die hard" northern fans should carbon date DJs records to make sure the record wasn't manufactured after December 31st 1969. Heaven forbid that they would actually like anything made after that date. What do people think records like "Grooving At The GoGo", "Out On The Floor" & "At The DISCOtheque" referred to !!!!!!!!!! All the clues are there .
  11. Hey - This is the future - soon we'll all be doing them - think they are referred to as "wakes"
  12. Roy Handy ToeKnee Clarke Bottom & Company
  13. Russ would only take part if it was in the "poppy" section!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Hi Pete Carstairs has gone massive again all over the country while you've been away - 12inch remix of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Jimmy Ruffin - "I'll Never Let You Get Away". B side of "Farewell Is A Lonely Sound".
  16. I mentioned on a previous thread that way back "then" Chubby Checker was "At The Discotheque". I don't think "At The Place That Plays Rare Uptempo Sixties Soul" was ever considered as an aternative title.
  17. I think Uncle Dickie called it "Love You Like A Man" - by who I can't remember. Don't lie awake at night thinking too much about it though.
  18. How Sad. Don't care what sort of soul floats your boat - we have lost a legend. One of the "truly great" voices of soul. RIP Luther.
  19. Didn't want to disappoint Pete - as you haven't me.
  20. QUOTE "Paula Parfitt Love Is Wonderful, whats it going for at the moment" Going for a lifetime of never being played again would be my wish.
  21. IMHO the trick is to listen to everything - that way you don't miss out. Soul music was good yesterday & it will be good tomorrow.
  22. The Very Last Drop - Bobby Thurston. Let It All Come - Main Squeeze
